    Hi,

I'm a single % away from a First so I'm interested in appealing my exam results to see if I can get myself into the next bracket.

What is the proceedure for appealing results? Is it ever successful?

    Thanks,
    Conal

    There's info here: http://tcdsu.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=95&Itemid=143

Keep in mind that although there's no automatic right to an appeal (it's not like the Leaving Cert) you have a right to view your script and you should do that first. If you're not in a degree year than it probably isn't worth your while (to appeal I mean, it's always worth your while to check your script).

And I know people who have had exams rechecked, yes.

Just in addition/backing up Myth's post. You can look at your scripts. First thing when looking is to add up the marks that they gave for each question, see if it matches the total, then see if that matches the % given. If you're doing a technical subject, you can then look through with more of a fine tooth comb, double checking your answers etc. I'm not sure what you'd do for a more subjectively marked subject. To appeal, you'll probably have to have good reason, then go to your tutor and see if they'll back you.

Again, unless it's going to be deciding internships, postgrad offers, or it's a degree year then the effort probably isn't worth it. It's unlikely you'll be moved up but it has happened before.
