    hey,

i was watching a particular flight due for the 4th of july which i booked on sunday for 29 euro (single) yesterday it was 79, now its 99. is this normal for them to vary their prices? or is it due to the oil? although they said they would not apply an oil surcharge i think its clear they are adjusting their price to reflect it anyway.

As it gets nearer to the day of the flight, the price always shoots up. It's the same with all airlines. They make a lot of their money from people who need to fly home at the last minute for funerals etc.

They always hike up prices the closer they get to the flying date.

Not sure how much they increase by normally but it wouldn't surprise me at all. I've seen flights jump by well over 100 euro in the space of about 10 days.

Yep. It's normal for Ryanair to vary their prices. In general, they go up as the flight date approaches. But it's quite unpredictable, as it reflects how well or badly the seats on a particular flight are selling.

As far as I know the way it usually works is that a certain number of seats are available at a certain price.

EG. you have 100 seats on a plane - Seats
    1 -10 are 0.01c
    11 - 20 are 1.99
    21 - 30 are 5.99
    31 - 50 are 15.99
    51 - 70 are 55.99
    71 - 80 are 79.99
    81 - 90 are 99.00
    91 -100 are 199.99

I don't know exactly how it works so this is just an example. So if you buy the first seat on the plane you get a good deal, if you buy closer to the time of the flight, say you get the 92 seat you are paying more. If your route isn't selling they may put more seats into the lower priced categories to encourage people. So sometimes even if it is close to the departure you may still get a good deal if the flight isn't selling. While I'd say they have a set price for all flights and seats I'd imagine they adjust them on a daily basis judging on how things are going.

It could also go back down, was going away with my friend last year, booking flights separately about 2 months in advance, I got mine for say €50, he went to book the next week it was €100, left it another week he got it for €30
