Hi folks, I was just wondering what your thoughts are on visiting Morocco in the summer - most people seem to visit in autumn/winter.

We're taking a month this summer in the camper van - and were very interested in visiting morocco for a week, but we don't want to get too roasted!

does anyone have any experience of summer in morocco?

    thanks, Livee

'Too hot' is subjective. It really depends on where in the country you are and what you like.

I spent 3 weeks there in 2001 and it was about 38°C everyday and managed to tan for the first time in my life :)

Firstly it's a very dry heat, not humid; Anything over 30°C in Paris and I'm dead. Still though you just have to be careful and stay out of the sun at midday and be prepared for very warm nights. It's much cooler by the coast and in the mountains.

Check out the BBC page for other info :

It all depends where you go. If you are heading to coastal towns/cities like Essourira, Agadir or Casablanca then the sea breeze will make it bearable. If you are in the Atlas mountains then it wont be too hot but still quite warm nonetheless. If you want to go to the Sahara Desert at that time of year then it will be roasting and you'd probably have to stay indoors between 12-3. It'd still be worth it though, the Sahara is the real highlight of Morocco.
