Just got this email from crispinglover.com concerning a screening of his the first two parts of his "IT" trilogy in Dublin this weekend as part of the The Darklight Festival. If I had known about this I would have booked tickets ages ago as I've been wanting to see parts one and two for some time now.

For those that don't recognise the name, he played George McFly in the original Back to the Future and more recently Grendel in Beowulf.
    Hello!

I will continue touring this week with parts one and two of the "IT" trilogy

    What is it?

The tour comes to Dublin Ireland Friday, June 27 and 28 at the Irish Film Institute.

I will perform Crispin Hellion Glover's Big Slide Show I and present part one of the IT trilogy:

I'd love to go for a pint with that guy. You just know you'd end up trying to duct-tape some midgets to an elephant or something as equally whacky.

Proof of Glover's awesomeness. His album is one of the most surreal and brilliant things that I have ever heard.

    The man is a lunatic

Of course in years to come that could be regarded in the same way as Shatner's recorded materials

Jeez I really wish they'd lined him up on the late late, can you imagine Kenny trying to deal with that ? Such professionalism from Letterman

i think if he were on the late late show, it would probably be the only reason i would watch it

the guy is as mad as a brush, more power to him

Both of those videos are amongst the oddest things I have ever seen.
The David Letterman one is just bizarre.

Seeing him on The Late Late Show would single handedly justify the cost of the TV licence for a whole year and make up for all of RTE's badly made programmes of the last 20 years.

No, he's playing a character. See the film Rubin and Ed.

He has been typecast quite a bit as the same nervous guy for which George McFly seems to be the blueprint.

Remember him in Wild At Heart as the dude who'd stay up all night making sandwiches and get hysterical when the reality was broken to him every so often that it wasn't Christmas...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

What he's doing these days is far from typecast I'll tell ya..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Yeah, I know he's moved on all right. Nurse Betty (2000) was the last time I know of him being George McFly-esque - and he was basically the exact same. Probably a bit of self referencing going on...

    He's great!

    Hey Galvasean,

Was there any craic out of him at that thing or were you only with him a few minutes?
I went to the first one on the friday with an open mind but found it difficult viewing.

Couldn't say I liked it, but won't pretend I understood it either. Thought he seemed a very likeable guy though. Certainly a lot going on upstairs.
