Lambkin's cat

Is Lambkin's cat real or not? When he was "persuading" Lee Adama to be president, I think it was clear that there's a dead cat in his bag, and it has been like that for some time, and that the cat we see in that episode is all in Lambkin's head.

All fine and good, except I was rewatching Series 3 and when Lambkin is introduced to us his cat jumps up on Roslin's desk and she clearly sees it. Later it jumps out of the Raptor, Tyrol sees it (or thinks he sees something that could have been a cat) and the ensuing attempts to capture it lead him to find the bomb under the Raptor. There may have been a couple of other instances in that episode, but it boils down to there was a real cat at that stage.

So, did Lambkin kill the cat in between these two episodes for extra dramatic effect in his attempts to persuade Lee to be president? Or is this just one of those things that slip through the cracks?

Didn't he say that they killed his cat after he defended Baltar and got him off the hook?

Yeah the cat died after the trial. Lampkin mentioned something about "those debased dregs of humanity" killing it.

Er, some random people killed his cat.

Hence him shouting at Lee "they killed my cat!"

On a slightly more serious note:

What's with people seeing their dead loved ones in their head?

Lampkin and his treasured cat (present from his wife wasn't it? at least all he had left of the family)

    Tigh and his wife

    Adama and his ex

Baltar and Head Six...and then Head-Him (cos he loves himself now)

I remember Six saying "God is love". Might be something to do with that. That God is actually just our own minds inside us or something..

Ah maybe I picked it up wrong then - I thought whatever way he said it that the cat was dead since the cylon attacks. It makes more sense if it was killed after Baltar's trial. :)

As for the "head" people, I think they're manifestations of guardian angels or something similar. Baltar hasn't needed head 6 since he's accepted God or something.

I remember there being a line, Baltar says something like "God loves me, just the way I am." And Six echoed this, when talking to Tigh, "I loved Baltar just the way he was, flaws and all." I'm paraphrasing but basically I think that this show will never truly spell out what it's hinting at...that there may be two or even three different ways of looking at the mystical side of the show. One could say she was a guardian angel, or Baltar was projecting his own self-worth into an all-loving being (he felt guilty, needed reassurance) and when he finally loved himself again, that's when Head Baltar took over.

So when that scene came up, and Baltar spoke to everyone saying we are all perfect, and Head Six stood in the background looking satisfied, this could have been her literally looking on, or else it was symbolic, for Baltar had outgrown his need for approval from outside of himself, and the writers represented this by making her more of a background character in the scene, and then vanishing alltogether.

    Ramble ramble, sorry...
    I love this show...
