Ebay sellers not telling the truth

I bought a dvd drive from a UK seller on 13th June. Had an email saying that it was shipped on 16th June. Credit card debited same day. Late Friday, I emailed them to say that I hadn't received it. They sent a standard reply saying that there could be a number of reasons, incorrect address, nobody was in, look in your outhouse blah blah blah. The only reason that wasn't mentioned is that they could have made a mistake.

They're one of the many sellers who've jumped onto the extortionate postal charge bandwagon, which is why I expected the item to arrive rocket-propelled.

I received the drive today and noticed that it wasn't franked until 18th June, two days after they told me that it was shipped!

    It doesn't promote much trust.

Well okay then. Not much point having a moan without spilling the beans!

I can understand your frustration, but I think you may be being a little harsh on the seller.

1 - Claimed Mailed 16th, arrived 23rd - 5 working days for packet post to Ireland isn't really that bad - You have to take into account the sheer inadequacy of the Royal Mail, a service that is notorious for delaying airmail items.

2 - As above, with regard to the actual postmark date - With the Royal mail, the date of franking doesn’t always necessarily equate to the date of postage. I have been personally affected by this in the past, (I'm the proud owner of a Royal mail certificate of postage dated 4.25 p.m. from a Liverpool post office on the 1st of the month for an item that eventually arrived postmarked the 3rd of the month.) and can verify that their services are sometimes patchy at best.

3 - In fact, RM aren’t alone in offering shoddy service: Since my local post office changed hands, i can now be left waiting for anything up to 10 days for items to be delivered, which in the past used to take no more than 4/5 days. If you still feel 5 working days for dispatch is unreasonable, don’t rule out An Post laziness out of the equation.

3 - The email reply you received is standard practice for thousands of ebayers in Ireland and the UK, and unfortunately, due to the high propensity of scamming buyers out there, it is entirely logical that any email sent would not mention the possibility of any error the seller may possibly have made after such a short period of time .

Bear in mind that the seller willingly engaged into email contact with you to reassure you after so short a time when thousands of online sellers routinely would not, and as for retrospectively being critical of his postage charges? Well, at the risk of sounding like an old grump ; his P&P and services provided were clearly displayed and explained on his listings at the time of purchase, so I do genuinely think you may be being overly harsh in your judgement.

When I got the package I checked the RM label reference number on the tracking site, to make certain that I had the right postal date. I did ask the seller whether there was a tracking number and one wasn't given.

I ordered stuff from a non-Ebay retailer in the UK at around 5PM on 16th and it was delivered on 19th. This was on the same postal tariff as the Ebayer - and weighed more, (and cost less in postage). I reluctantly accept these OTT postal charges as I expect the Ebayer to get the items into the system ASAP. I'm only moaning about the charge now as the seller didn't get the item into the postal system for 3 working days, as well as grabbing the loot two days before shipping the goods.

Isn't that just confirming when it was processed by royal mail staff though?

It's not necessarily proof of when it was brought to the post office, as was pointed out in the points raised in post #4.

Whatever anybody else's opinion is of Royal Mail, I've never known a situation with them when the correct date has not been entered on an item entering into their tracking system.

After pointing out all of the above to the the Ebay seller, the following was a reply that I got from them:

"We apologize for all inconvenience to you. The first email was an automated dispatch email from ebay.

If you can cooperate on this matter it would be great help.

    Thank you for your cooperation."

As they didn't deny anything and even went on to blame Ebay, I'm pretty confident that my moan was justified.

I'm having trouble with those bastards too.

Aryan Tech, which is under the username of thedvdworlduk.

Look at their feedback for the last month... 619 Postive, 60 Neutral, 450 Negative !

    My Story...

    Oct 6th : I won an eBay item ( a NAS disk enclosure )
It didn't work ( I'm a techy ), so I followed their process for returning items.
Their RMA form said they'ld refund any return shipping.

Oct 23rd : They received the dodgy item. ( tracked delivery )

Nov 1st : I had to chase them up cos they had done nothing.

Nov 7th : They offer an alternative replacement, but doesn't have the key functions I want. I reject it.

Nov 13th: They say they'll find a replacement or give me a refund.

Nov 21st: I try getting an update from them, no response.

Nov 25th : I open an eBay case against them.
Nov 26th : They reiterate that they'll find a replacement or refund.

Dec 15th : Still nothing from them.

    Over 2 months waiting.
They changed their feedback to "private" in an attempt to hide all their dissatisfied customers comments.

Avoid these guys like the plague...

Why have you waited so long? After a few days of non-response, it's time to raise a Paypal claim, if you paid with Paypal. You only have 45 days to do this, so it's too late now, and if you funded the payment with credit card, it may be too late to try a chargeback, as many banks impose a time limit on this too.

Shame about the feed-back being changed to private. It must make an interesting read.

    Update:

That seller thedvdworlduk is now not registered.
He must've been kicked off eBay, along with my 100 Euro

This is their associated / parent company

    http://www.aryan-tech.co.uk/index.html

Even though I bought from thedvdworlduk, the Paypal transaction went through aryan-tech limited.

    The paypal details say
    Customer Service URL: http://www.refreshyourmemory.co.uk
    Customer Service Email: info@drutech.co.uk

Both websites have gone... they seem to be spawning off companies and folding them up left, right and centre.

My purchase back in June went through as Aryan-tech Ltd as well. They were obviously victims of their own success.
