    Hi All,

We are heading to New York on Thursday (26/6) and we plan on purchasing an engagement ring.

From looking at some of the posts here, we came up with the following places to look at Salvedors, Haniken's, Mark T (http://engagementringsdirect.com) , Barry (www.exceldiamonds.com).
However after trying to make appointments with the all off the above, we have found out that both Hannikens and Barry are closing for summer holidays this week, so they are both out...

So right now what I am looking for is the name of some other jewellers that people have used and would recommend that we could get in contact with before we head over to make sure they are open!!!

    Hope someone can help!!

    Thanks.....

Dont know about other shops over there, there are so many you will be totally confused!!! Its like walking down Grafton Street and every single shop is a jewelers.
I bought my engagement ring in Salvatores, couldnt be nicer and most aer lingus staff go there. They will look after you if you are irish so as not to piss off aer lingus staff!!! Best of luck, it was a liza that looked after me. Dont be put off by the look of the place, its only one stall (39 if i can remember) in one shop so looks kinda tacky!!!

Hello there. It's probably a good idea to be a little bit wary
of diamond-district jewellers. I would take any purchase
immediately for appraisal (by unrelated appraiser) before
you leave the country just to be on the safe side.

Good jewellers I know of there:

    http://signedpieces.com/facets.cfm?choose_engagement=1

Leon Mege is short on ready-to-go rings (as the jewellers
you've mentioned are), but makes excellent high quality
stuff at at least commensurate prices.

Bluenile is a good place to get an idea of diamond
costs (if you haven't already). Good luck :)
