In what has to be one of the most unfortunate years for Hollywood another true great has passed away. George Carlin died yesterday.

Most famous for his outspoken comedy and his numerous film roles most recognisable as Rufus in the Bill and Ted films.

Yeah I thought it strange when I read "Bill and Ted actor Carlin dies, aged 71" on Digital Spy.

Is that really his crowning achievement?

No, he was one of the world's most respected stand up comics. However people who are not well versed in the realms of stand up comedy would stand a better chance of recognizing him from a movie. A bit like saying Gilbert Gottfried may be best known for voicing the parrot from Aladdin, even though he is a very well known stand up comic.

Rhetorical question, folks... *I* know its not his crowning achievement (I'm a fan of his standup). I just thought it unusual that it was Digital Spy's Obit for him

Ah I see. Well to most people it would be the thing they'd recognize him from.

Well, not everyone liked him: have a read of this. You may remember this outfit from other funerals, such as those of US soldiers killed in Iraq.

Oh they hate everything. Add George to the list that includes soldiers, gay people, unmarried couples, Sweden, furniture stores, vacuum cleaners, Ireland, funerals, dead people, documentary makers, Princess Diana, Desmond Tutu, reggae music etc etc etc.

They are a disgrace to the God they claim to work for.
