I knew this is totally un p c but with the weather being so bad I'd ALMOST be tempted to do a few sun bed sessions. What does everyone think on the subject?

If you use some suncream and do some short sessions it's not so bad. No worse than sitting in the sun. But if you do long sessions you could be in trouble later on.

Just stick on some fake tan, you're only asking to develop skin cancer in later years by going on a sunbed. Don't do it, you'll destroy your skin.

I think it is foolish in the extreme. You are willingly and knowingly putting yourself in the way of harmful UV rays. It can lead to skin cancer (the most common cancer in Ireland) which is a horrible horrible disease and has dreadful consequences; either you'll survive after going through horrendous treatment or you'll die a most awful death. If you're lucky and don't get a melanoma you're skin will age prematurely and that in itself is rather unattractive (think There's Something About Mary).
The weather has been bad over the last few days but by Irish standards has been very good for a long time. If having a tan means that much to you fake it but fake it well. Otherwise deal with the pale skin, its not that bad and certainly better than melanoma.

    Don't do it!
There are so many great fake tans on the market that give a realistic tan effect there's no need to risk those harmful sunbed rays!!

I use Johnsons Holiday Skin - use like normal moisturiser every day to build up an even colour.

Never use outdoor tanning lotion in an indoor tanning bed. Never, they will kick you out. It damages the acrylic. You should only use a lotion that is specifically for indoor beds. And you shouldn't be using a sunscreen, you shouldn't be in there long enough to burn. If you feel like you are burning- get out.

yep most tanning salons will sell really good creams which accelerate tanning, but make sure you go to a good recommended sunbed. there are so many bad ones that are a waste of money. and paying more means your getting better quality.

If you just keep it to a few minutes a week you'll be fine, I've been doing sunbeds for ages and as long as you dont go overboard with the tanning I dont see the problem!
    :D

Dont do it! Use fake tan!
Do it, but only for a short time!
    Use tanning cremes!

Nobody offered the best advice (IMO) which is that nobody needs to go to a sunbed. Your mental image of beauty has been altered by the media. You don't need half black skin to be beautiful.
You really don't and threads like this, where theres girls giving advice about how to make your skin darker just makes the whole thing worse.
Peers replying but not disagreeing with you tells your subconcious that what you're doing is acceptable.

Why would you really want darker skin anyways? Sunbed/intensive sun darkened or cream-darkened skin is not attractive.

Yep I agree with you FuzzyLogic! I think Irish women completely go overboard when it comes to tanning and fake tanning. I myself am soo pale and people always go on about it to me coz I'm so pale - it really irritates me, the only reason they are going on about it is because everybody else around me is fake tanned so like back off!

I'd rather be pale than go on sunbeds or burn in the sun or put on fake tan which smells disgusting.
