hydrocephalus

Well, what a week I've had. Was getting headaches that I attributed to new glasses for about a week and a half, started getting sick and having nose bleeds.

Was convinced to go to hospital on Sunday night and after numerous tests including 2 shunt taps I discovered that my existing shunt had partially dissolved and that the pressure had built up so much in my skull that my brain was actually pressing against my skull.

Long story short, got a new shunt (and unfortunately a haircut) and things are back to normal. I even lost 6 pounds and three inches off my waist through a combination of fasting and hospital food so it can't be all bad.:D

If you start getting headaches (and happen to have hydrocephalus) get it checked out.

Only downside is that my rugby playing days are over.

Sounds like you've been through a lot (I'm including hospital food as a tragic experience :p). Sorry to hear about the rugby (damn savage sport that it is) but glad to hear you have it sorted :)

The food in beaumont was actually quite good (especially compared to the Mater). Some of the nursing staff didn't know their A from their E though.
