    You aren't supposed to ask for legal advice here.

    If you asked what one might do in that hypothetical situation, I'd say they probably couldn't sue - they can't bring it to court at all. Their action would be statute barred if the work happened 7/8 years ago.

    You should really ask a solicitor about this, you'd be able to get an answer straight away.

    Now, I have no idea what this is about, but the statute of limitations varies depending on circumstance. You can certainly sue people for thigns that happened a long time ago - but legal advice would be essential.
