Has anyone here used the 5lb whey from supplement factory? is it any good? seems quite cheap for 5lbs of whey, im not saying this takes away from the quality of the product i just dont want to waste my money!! would anyone reckon that ON gold standard whey is better albeit more expensive!!!

Someone really shoulda started a thread detailing their experience with The Supplement Factory by now... :D

FTR, I've used their chocolate orange whey and it's very nice. The reason it's so cheap is because there's no middle man and the factory was already in place as a contract supplier so start up costs were also minimal to zero.

Is the protein all concentrate or is it a blend and is it high in carbs?

Just concentrate as far as I'm aware. According to the labels there's .54g of carbs per 25g of protein.

That good isn't it? Big Whey is 1.68g carbs per 22.88g of protein.

Seen a good few adverts for supp factory on various websites in one of them theres a picture of a tub of whey Isolate anybody any know when its out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

I ordered both strawberry and chocolate whey, both taste nice, they may be a little sweet for some though.

10lbs delivered for €67.50 is good value me thinks.

Yeh I think their products taste lovely and are good quality.

Reflex and ON whey are probably the two best on the market with Isolate and Concentrate blended to 80% as is. That means there is more Isolate then concentrate. They also add digestive enzymes and a very small bit of hydrolysed whey protein for peptide fractions - but probably a sprinkle. ON is owned by Kilkenny's very own Glanbia!

GROWTH MATRIX WOW

I don't know tbh as I'm in Dublin, just email them and I'm sure they can give you a price, although I think it's 8.50 for anywhere in the country.

You can buy a 5lb tub of whey from The Supplement Factory for 29.99 even if you were to pay the 8.50 for delivery it's still only going to cost you 38.49 which is a lot less than most other places, including yours where a 5lb tub of whey can be 59.99.

How are you definf "inferior quality"? Quantative analysis, or just a general feeling you have??

yeah, if there is nobody at home they will leave a messege for you to collect it at theire nearest depot. or they could give it to your neighbour.

i always get it delivered to my work address, that way there is always somebody there to receive it. getting it home in the backpack on my motorbike is another days work:p

Because postmen need to earn a living too, unless you found a volunteer one!

I prefer open postage policies, there is no such thing as "free post". If I find a place with "free post" there is no incentive to buy many items at once. If I have to pay a post fee I like to get my moneys worth and so usually search well and find a few items to get, they all become cheaper per unit as the post is split. I ring/email mates to see if they want something from whatever the shop is. So in the long run the shop can make more profit and offer stuff cheaper. chainreactioncycles.com offer "free post", I have bought somethings and then an hour later copped on I needed something else, I feel bad that they lose out by having to pay postage twice when it could have gone in 1 parcel, I feel bad since I will buy from them again, and want them to be able to offer me stuff as cheap as possible.

I have never ordered from pro-nutiriton, but hear good things, I have also recommended them many times before to people on that basis, and to give some support to a local business.

I also do not like paying for nextday deliveries if there is a potentially cheaper option, though within Ireland next day can be standard. I prefer having the option of slow post, like dvdpacific have.

Same here, get all my parcel post to work.

If they can contact the courier direct they might be able to request for it to be left somewhere, e.g. leave a black sack open in your green wheelie bin and tell them to pop it in there.

Sadly I left my quantative analysis equipment at home in the country, so it's just a general feeling :p

Naahh, me and my mate have tried Supp Factory stuff. We weren't impressed with anything other than the price. And there's not much point buying something cheap if you're not gonna use it or enjoy it.

Its just my experience, but I found the stuff to be inferior (to Nutrition X, or Optimum Nutrition, or Prolab, all of which I've used) with regards to taste and mixing.
Also I don't feel they're of the same standard as the aforementioned. For example, Nutrition X MassX uses two scoops. For the same amount of protein, I had to use THREE scoops of The Supp Factory's Mass Gain. Same size scoops.

Sweet jesus the amount of Supplement threads these days is ridiculous. Do posters pay as much attention to their training? There's a supplements thread stickied as well which I'm sure the mods didn't put there because it looks nice.

I come here looking to see if there are any discussions on training and performance and all anyone ever talks about lately is f'in Milkshakes.

If anyone was talking about the amino acid profile it'd be different but it's all "Ooooh it's too lumpy for me!" or "I can't stand brand XXX it doesn't taste as nice as brand XXX."

90% of this forums content is driven by beginners looking for advice, very few threads asking about elbow position in the bench press or the pro's and cons of split training etc.

It's more a comment on what beginners seem to be interested in talking about than anything else. Threads on different issues seem to get pushed back to page 2 very quickly by the latest "Which is nicer Frappacino or Fruits of the Forest" thread.

Just to be clear volume and weight are not the same.

    Nut X - mass x protein per 100g = 30g

    SF - mass gain protein per 100g = 30g

Finally, the voice of reason! These supplement threads are completely clogging up the board. People should start to realise that theyre gonna make a lot more progress if they trained hard without the use of protein powders than if they spend all their time worrying about which powder has an extra gram of protein per 100g and tastes like their favourite milkshake! Not saying taking protein is useless, far from it, but if youre not doing enough training to actually utilise it youre just gonna piss it out anyways. Worry about your training first, your macros second, and your protein sources after that; the variety of flavours whey comes in last!

On a bit of an off topic, irrelevent side point, do any of ye notice most people have a common misconception with what protein powders actually are? When I started taking whey I got some reactions like, "Oh, so youre on the protein now. Youre gonna turn into a beast." WTF!?! "Eh no, this is whey. Just something which has a high protein content. You know, put it with fats and carbohydrates and we call this food. Your thinking of something completely different. Its called hard work."

Ugh, sorry for the rant, Im in a bad mood tonight...

Hahahahaha all so true.... It's easier to try and buy a nicer/better shake tho. Trying to get big and strong isn't something that can be bought.

I remember making a shake one night when one of my wifes friends was over. She was twitching in chair as I was drinking it like I was shooting heroin up in front of her or something. Started going on about the "long term side effects" LOL. Long term side effects of a biproduct of cheese!

I ordered stuff 5 working days ago, should have been here 2 working days ago, no sign of it. The website says my order is "processing". No response to e-mails, no phone number on site. Needless to say they are a joke of a company and I will not be ordering with them again

The Supplement Factory stuff is very good. Their whey protein is very high quality, and actually has a fairly decent taste, which is impressive because good flavouring systems usually ramp up prices. In my opinion (and I actually do research supplements in college ) the Sup factory whey is the second best on the market. The best? Isolyse by Species, but it costs more than a small car.
