Geting evermore frequent problems with my eircom router which I've had for 2 years. Loosing wireless functionality, and now also loosing Ethernet connectivity.

So how cheaply can I get a DSL router with the same functionality as the Eircom standard issue.

    Don't need anything better.
    Thanks

My brother in law had a problem with his and phoned Eircom and told them it wasn't working.

They sent out a new one.

Have you tried resetting to "default settings" and enter all your details again, password etc.

If you tell them about the problems as you describe they'll do your head in with troubleshooting and tests and the like. Then they'll most likely blame your pc for the problems.
    This is what you do.

Unplug the modem from the phoneline.
    Ring Eircom tech support. 1890 260 260
Tell them the modem is completely dead (ie. no lights, nothing) but the power supply is working as you have tested it.
Tell them you had to borrow a modem to get online.

They'll send you a new one.

@stanley: I'll reset a modem once every 2 or 3 moths, but these faults are getting too frequent.

@kaizersoze ""If you tell them about the problems as you describe they'll do your head""
Love your tip. The very thought of getting on to any "hELPLINE!? does my head, but your idea of cutting them of at the start is a beauty. Will get around to it in the next few days, I hope, and we'll see.
    Thanks all

Or just tell them you posted it and let them figure out the post office has lost it!

I doubt anyone in Eircom would be sad enough to go to the bother of plugging the modem in and checking it....or would they?
