What do you think of the new game tunes?

    Game's Pain - I love it tbh.

Love Game's Pain. Great track and Keyshia Cole is great on the hook. Can't wait for L.A.X. Very impressive list of producers and guests set to appear. Producers include Cool and Dre, Just Blaze, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Kanye, Ne-Yo, Jelly Roll, etc. (maybe Swizz Beatz?) Sorry to hear that Dr. Dre will not be producing as I think he works very well with Game, better than he does with the likes of 50, Obie Trice, etc.

Guests set to appear include Lil' Wayne, Kanye, Mary J, Ice Cube, Raekwon, Akon, Chris Brown, Nas, Busta, Ne-Yo, Ludacris (maybe Snoop, Fabolous, Xzibit?)

Looks set to be a big album, I'm really looking forward to it as I'm a huge Game fan. The only other song I've heard from Game recently is Big Dreams, a "street single" which was released a couple of months ago but I'm not sure if this will make it onto L.A.X.?

The video for Game's Pain has been released - very remeniscint of 'To Live And Die In L.A.' by 2pac.

Game's Pain Remix has been released, featuring Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Pusha T, Queen Latifah and....YOUNG BUCK! I was more than a little surprised when I heard him at the end. Despite everything that's happened between them I am happy to see that they're on good terms again. There's a lot of rumours going around the Game and 50 have met regarding ending the beef between the two and possibly working together again, though I'll believe this when I see it.

Here's Game's Pain Remix on YouTube

"Dope Boys" is the second single from L.A.X. It features Travis Barker on the drums. I think it's got a good beat to it, sounds like it would be great live.

Here's the Dope Boys unofficial video.

Some of the tracks that have been confirmed sound very promising. "State Of Emergency" features Ice Cube and samples the beats from Cube's "Ghetto Bird"

Here is Ghetto Bird by Ice Cube. Try to imagine the beat slightly updated with Game and Cube rapping together :)

"Never Gonna Say Goodbye" is a song that Game made as if he were in the body of 3 of the most influential deceased rappers 10 minutes before they passed. Game has 3 verses in which he is 2pac, Biggie and Eazy-E. This track sounds very interesting, great idea, I'm really looking forward to hearing it.

I can't wait for L.A.X. to drop (August 26!!! :) ). I know Game is not the best lyricist or most loved rapper but in my opinion he is one of the best out there today.

Can't wait for L.A.X - The Documentary was a classic but Doctors Advocate has to be one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years in any genre.

I'm kinda feeling Dope Boys and Game's Pain. My one problem is that Game's Pain is probably just another nostalgia song but, in fairness its done well and made me bob the head.

as for the remix, i thought its rubbish apart from Fat Joe. He actually sounds like himself from about 10 years ago...when he was good.

    BOOM

Documentary was far from classic. Game is lyrically weak. His beats make him.

One of the best rap albums released in recent years IMO. Agree that Game is somewhat lyrically weak. (too much name dropping and "Impala's, Air Force One's, etc.") Still one of the best out there in my opinion - I would much rather listen to Game rather than Kanye, Wayne, Jeezy or 50 - but I think that's because Game has created an image for himself that I find very appealling. He is very aggressive, never far from beef, obsessed with the West Coast.

He reminds me of a modern day Ice Cube or Tupac Shakur but he still has his own identity.

Game has been blessed when you think of the people he has worked with in the past four years (Dre, Eminem, Just Blaze, Kanye, Cool And Dre, Ice Cube, Nas, Busta, Mary J, Lil' Wayne, etc.) It's like a wishlist that any aspiring rapper would dream of. I think the case is that Game is a good lyricist but not a great writer. He works best with Dre because Dre is a perfectionist and he brings out the best in everyone. Still, even without Dre the Game has proved that he is strong enough to stay in the rap game.

Here is a recent interview where he talks about his new album, the state of hip-hop today and the the Sean Bell case.

The fact that game has better tunes than most of the mainstream hardly makes him a top mc. Nas, reef the lost cauze, lloyd banks, prozack turner, ghostface killah, raekwon, masta ace etc the list goes on. He aint that good.

    Hes extremely poor lyrically.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

I agree that sometimes his lyrics ain't the best, a lot of name dropping can get grating, but he's got gangsta rap down to a tee. Not to mention the beats he uses are always top quality stuff. I like stuff like Immortal Tech, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco as well, but for proper West Coast gangsta stuff nobody does it better than the game.

In fairness, the west coast is pretty awful these days. Being the best MC out there isn't saying much, and personally I'd still take anyone on the Hiero crew above him.

So you admit hes bad lyrically, namechecks people in every song and that his beats make him. He doesnt even make his own beats. Being gangsta doesnt make you good.

Its usually the producer who makes the beats isn't it? The likes of Just Blaze, Scott Storch etc. Just for example, check the last track on DA called "Why you hate the game".Tell me if one other rapper "who makes his own beats" released anything as good as that in the last 5 years.

No it doesn't, but I suppose different people like different things. Gangsta rap is what got me listening to this music, which in turn led to me discovering the more "socially conscious" artists, so I'm still very much a fan of it. I mean, who doesn't get the urge to break out Doggystyle or The Chronic every once in a while?? :)

I like the chronic and doggystyle cos theyre good albums. Not cos theyre gangsta. My point about the game is hes a weak rapper. So i dont bother with him.

1 rapper who makes his own beats better than that? Prozack turner. Best rapper out of california in a long time.

well then why post in a thread that is talking about the new songs if all your going to do is flame?

I enjoyed the documentry, wasnt mad on Doctors advocate tbh.

Hopefully this will be a good realeas liking the songs ive heard so far anyway!

you sound pissed off? are you ok, you child?

you have said absolutly nothing about the album, you just came on saying the game is ****, which in its self is fair enough, not everyone is going to like the same stuff. Im just trying to point out the futility of making a thread on any forum when it comes to hiphop because there is always a flaming child who comes on thinking they have the greatest knowledge of rap music ever!

    its pathetic really :D

yyyaaaawwwwwnnnnnnnn, with metaphors like that so wonder you rap.... Alicia Keys looking muthafu.......

anyway lets leave this little gay flame war alone and let people talk about the games new music. now to post in Nuggets thread!

Nugget you have 5-6 posts in this thread and all of them just say that you think Game is "lyrically weak" - no need to keep repeating it cos we heard you the first time. I agree with you to a certain extent but I think that at the end of the day Game is an extremely talented lyricist but not a great songwriter.

    Back on to the subject...

With the release of Game's/BWS new mixtape, 'You Know What It Is Vol. 5' an animated music video/short film will be released. The title of the track is 'Superman' and here's a short trailer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmD546pDJS8

Also, Game announced that 'Dope Boys' is not an official single from L.A.X. but there will be an "internet-only' official video for it.

I think the next single will be 'Red Magic' ft. Lil' Wayne ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

Im just replying to what people say to me man. Hes not a good lyricist all to be honest.
Hes very a-b rhyme scheme. No good lines. Basic as ****. You see if you reply to what i say in this post your a hypacrit.

Well that's your opinion. I think Game is a good lyricist but some of his rhymes aren't great. If Jay-Z was writing for him I think you would feel differently. Anyway, I guess I'm a hypocrit now but I'm done discussing this with Nugget. We get it, you don't like him - simple as. Anyone want to get back on topic or should we keep Nugget on repeat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

No ive said my bit you facist hypocrit. Didnt realise people werent entitled to answer back. If nobody responded to what i said i would have only posetd once in this thread. I thought maybe people liked discussing music but you all clearly just want reassurance that your cool for liking the the game.

Hardly the case - I'm a fan of the Game and that is evident in the posts that I've made in this thread. You are clearly not a fan and that's evident in the first post you made in this thread. I went on to say I agree with you to a certain extent but you just went on and on as if your opinion was correct and everyone else's was wrong.

You've said your piece (5-6 times now) so why do you continue to post in this thread? Maybe you'd be better off if you went back to using Bebo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

Back to using bebo what are you on about?
The point of the thread is what do you think of the game? I answered people replied i answered back. If someones talking specifically to me should i ignore them? Its an opinion get over it and stop being a geebag.

  • its the tone of his voice when he raps makes him stand out tbh, excellent west coast sound. but would agree with the insane name dropping sometimes. although big dreams and games pain it seems his cut it down a small bit. except the little 50 cent diggs ha.

Not looking forward to his new album at all, he got very boring very fast.

Game's Pain is a song dedicated to name-dropping! It works for what it is though; a tribute to those that started hip-hop from nothing.

I dont really care if it gets locked. This tdc fella is getting all mestrual cos i have an opinion like. I was discussing what i thought of the game. People replied to what i said i replied back. There was no problem till he got all uptight about. I know you all have your little cliques on here and all. But i dont really care about him and know it all attitude.

Of course you don't care if it gets locked, you've said you don't like The Game but the people that do and want to dicuss his new songs would care if it gets locked.

So leave it at that, if you want to contribute to the thread then post away but keep it on topic and less abusive. Believe it or not people are entitled to disagree with your opinion as you are theirs.

As for your little cliques comment, the only posters in this thread I recognise as regular posters here are Boom Bap and Orizio, with a couple of others who post occasionally so it's unfounded.

Your really missing the point. I was just discussing the game with epople until tdc told me to stop posting if i dont like the game. I know people like the game i respect their opinion to like him. But tdc doesnt respect mine to not.

No I get your point. The thing is you're missing the real point of the thread which is discussion of The Game's new songs not the man himself. Something you didn't discuss. Regardless, I consider everyone to be past that issue now.

Every post between nevaeh 2 die 4 and ItsNugget have been deleted.
nevaeh you're a bit slow on the uptake clearly if I posted to say everyone to keep it on topic and then straight away you drag it off topic again.

I like it, the beat sounds good to me and I don't think there's any mentions of Air Force One's, Impala's or any names dropped! I'm liking it anyway, hope it makes the album. Not the finished product but gives you an idea!

Here is a review from a listening session of a few tracks from L.A.X.
    1. L.A.X

    Produced by JR Rotem

Big intro, he spits some BARS on this track talks about being gangster, very west coast bouncy production!

    2. State Of Emergency feat Ice Cube

    Produced by JR Rotem

Crazy beat again, very west coast, another big tune, the only thing I could have asked more for was a verse from Ice Cube - he was only on the chorus ‘California ain‘t a state it‘s an army‘(they didn’t play the whole track so he might have a verse at the end hopefully). Game has stepped his lyrics up even more so far on this album.

    3. Dope Boys

    Produced by 15 or Nothin’

I’m not gonna lie when I first heard this track I wasn’t impressed, but I think I must have gone mad cos this track is a BANGER! Most people would have heard this track already it’s got a very rocky feel with Travis Barker on the drums.

    4. House Of Pain

    Produced by Dj Toomp

This was one of the standouts for me, guitar rocky beat again. Game has definitely stepped up lyrically on this album. Another bouncy track with a load of quotables. Dj Toomp done his job with the beat!

    5. Heaven

    Produced by Jelly Roll

Another standout this track is serious, Game does some singing on the chorus. This could be a single for me a more introspective track than what’s been heard so far.

    6. My Life feat: Lil Wayne

    Produced by Cool & Dre

This is the next single, another introspective track. Talks about The Game’s struggles in his life. Very serious. Lil Wayne’s singing on the hook ‘Dear lord you took so many of my people but why havn’t you taken my life’. Beats serious as well very dark piano beat

    7. Bullet Proof Diaries feat Raekwon

    Produced by Jell Roll

Very funky westcoast beat. Another standout. Raekwon does his thing on this. The chorus reminds me of the Ruff Ryders ’World War 3’ track - ‘Where you from, New York’…………BIG TUNE

    8. Cali Sunshine

    Produce by Nottz

This track is ok, I think I might have to hear it again The Game`s talking about 50 getting robbed, Suge Knight getting punched up. For me Nottz is a serious producer but I wasn’t really feeling this track it might be a grower though.

    9. Never Say Goodbye

    Produced EP

Another highlight. At the start Biggie’s talking about his shock of hearing Eazy E death. Then it cut’s to the radio talking about the death of Biggie and Tupac. First verse The Game raps with Tupac’s flow and second verse he spits like Biggie, he SMASHES it! They faded out the track after the second chorus so I’m not sure if he does another verse.

    10. Ye Heard feat Ludacris

    Produced by Nottz

This track is SERIOUS! The beat is stupid, probably the best beat on the album for me. Very Funky bouncy beat. The Game does his thing lyrically, he talks about being looked over and being too gangster to win a grammy but Ludacris SMASHES IT, one of the verses of the year for me, too many quotable ‘So many flags I thought I was in Russia…….’

    11. Gentlemans’ Affair feat Neyo

    Produced by JR Rotem

To be honest I thought this was the weakest track for me, it’s got a mellowy summery vibe. It’ll probably do well on radio but I wasn’t really feeling it compared to the tracks I heard before.

    12. Angel feat Common

    Produced by Kanye West

When I saw the line-up for this I thought this track would be SERIOUS but at first it didn’t grab me, the beat didn’t sound like a Kanye West beat at all, it followed the west coast bouncy production of the rest of the tracks. Common and The Game done their thing lyrically and I think it was john Legend on the chorus. Everyone else in the room was feeling this track though to be fair, it’ll probably grow on me(still a big tune though I was just expecting a classic)

    13. Camera Phone feat Neyo

    Produced by Cool & Dre

This sounds like it could definitely be a single, I could imagine this being huge, double time beat.

    14. Money

    Produced by Cool & Dre

This one is definitely for the streets, similar vibe to Rick Ross ‘Push It’, talks about money. This will be BIG another highlight! I could imagine rappers freestyling over this beat on mixtapes for years!

    15. Breaking Rules feat Busta Rhymes

    Produced by Scott Storch

Minimalist beat, everyone in the room was feeling this track. Got a similar vibe to ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See’. Good track

    16. Letter To The King feat Nas

    Produced by Hi-Tek

One of my favourite tracks. The track is an ode to Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. Very introspective, they both talk about when they were younger overlooking the struggle but now realising the power. The beat is crazy, Hi Tek does his job. Nas and The Game make great tracks together, they both have featured on each others current and previous albums and each track for me has been a standout!

Pain - they didn’t play Pain because everyone’s heard it all ready

Big Dreams - The people at Universal said this maybe a bonus track their not sure at the moment

L.A.X is in stores August 25th in the Uk. August 26th in US

I got the new Game album, L.A.X., this morning. Listened right through the album and I'm really impressed. As usual with The Game production is top notch. The tracks I liked the most are Bulletproof Diaries, Let Us Live and House Of Pain.

Ya Heard ft. Ludacris has a very unusual beat but very catchy, I like it. Some of the more laid back tracks like Touchdown and Letter To The King work very well with the overall feel of the album. House Of Pain and Dope Boys have a kind of rocker feel to them but I think Game pulls it off. Money reminds me of the movie Scarface for some reason - it's got some kind of 'Miami-vibe' about it, I liked it. Angel is produced by Kanye and features Common, another good track I think. Game and Common work well together.

My Life is a great song IMO, Game and Lil Wayne work very well together. State Of Emergency ft. Ice Cube is a great track, very hard hitting West Coast music. The only song that I wasn't really feeling was Cali Sunshine. Maybe it was the beat or the chorus, I don't know but I listened to half of it and then skipped to the next song. This is the only time I did this during the whole album.

Think that's most of the album, I've only listened to most of the songs a couple of times but I really like the way this record turned out.

The negative points is Game's name dropping which is too frequent in some songs, but in fairness, minimal in others. Also I'm not the biggest fan of Game's lyrics. I'm a little dissapointed every time I hear the recycled 'Air Force One', 'Lambo', 'Phantom', 'Impala' etc. Game is a great lyricist but not a great song writer.

However, these points don't really bother me. I'm a die-hard Game fan and I've been waiting 2 years for this album. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I know some people don't like Game but there aren't too many rappers these days that come out with three consistent albums. L.A.X. is a worthy successor to The Documentary and Doctor's Advocate.

    4.5/5 (That's from a big Game fan)

  • tdc, i think Dope Boys is one of the hottest tracks on L.A.X, love the input the drummer from blink 182 gives to the funky beat. My other fav tracks are State of emrgency (ice cube rapping the hook, its good but would have prefered a verse from him. The thing i love the most about this track is that it reminds me of classic g-funk gansta rap tune...Ghetto Bird would be a good comparison from ice cubes leathal inection) , also loving bulletproof diaries (i like the way game and raekwon rap back and forth at each other seamlessly). I picked out 3 filler tracks which i didnt really like at the moment, il try listing to em for a bit more, maybe they will grow on me (gentleman's affair, Tocuhdown, cali sunshine) but the rest is really hot sh*t. So impressed with this, Doctor's advocate has nothing on this tbh. Not as much name dropping as before also. Other notable tracks are My life, deep verses from game and a great hook from lil wayne using that machine mic thingy he used in the carter 3. Money, ya heard ft ludacris, house of pain (hardest beat on the album i think), Never say goodbye (i think game hit the nail on the head with the rap verses, in the first he sounds like 2pac, then raps like biggy and finally eazy-e i think). Another note let us live...the game sounds so much like nas in this track and he spits fire, lyrically the game shows strength here. even i can admit that games name dropping and common subjects that he raps about can be annoying at times, and im a game fan. but this track is so very different.

Agree 100% with you Mick. Let Us Live is defenitely my favorite track from the album at the moment. Scott Storch did a brilliant job with the beat and Game killed it lyrically. I think this is one of the Game's best songs ever.

Completley agree with the last two posts. I'm loving this album. For me The Game is filling a vacuum left in rap since since the deaths of you-know-who in the late nineties. Fans want more gangsta rap reminiscent of the good old days. I presume this is why 50cents debut sold millions worldwide; he revived the genre and now The Game is carrying the baton.

To those complaining about his talent as a lyricist, check out Never Say Goodbye. Each verse is a different style deliberately imitating 2pac, Biggie and Eazy-E. Genius. This guy has studied rap to attain his incredible flow.

As for the name dropping, why is it so irritating? I don't mind it. I see it as a form of flattery. The Game is a hip-hop fan like the rest of us and he wants to show his love for the legends of the past. Pity hes saying this is his last album. Now excuse me while I pump State of Emergency one more time...

First post on boards but the past few months i have enjoyed reading various threads and i most say tdc as left some good links on this thread.

Anyway im a BIG Game fan and at the moment Cali Sunshine is my favourite track off L.A.X.

Track 9 Hard Liquor has an amazing beat and lastnight i downloaded the actual song which is apparently produced by Dr. Dre?

Is this the case and if so why the hell is the complete song not on his album?

    Ideas anyone!

Cali Sunshine is one of the tracks I just skip when it comes on, don't know why but I just don't like it. Money is an absolute banger, and as someone previously said something about it sounds "Scarface". Favorites at the moment would be Money, State Of Emergency, Bulletproof Diaries. However there is one song I detest and that is "My Life"....why oh why did the game drag Lil Wayne in for a track? I can't understand half of what he's saying and his voice irritates the **** out of me...

There were no Dre productions on this album itsjaybud.

Would have to agree that Money is a great track also and was one of the first songs i liked after listening to the album two or three times but now cali sunshine is at the top spot for me!

Also as mentioned before Never Can Say Goodbye really is well put together and shows alot of The Games talent as a rap artist imo.

My Life hit the top spot on 106 & Park and again another song i would always flick onto. Regards Lil Wayne on the track i think it works really well. Lil Wayne is seriously talented imo and also has a powerfull album out at the moment.

House of Pain would probably be my least favourite song off the album although it will probably be released as a single

I understand Dre didnt produce any tracks for the album i just wasnt sure if he was involved with the beat in the background of track 9, this link should have been with my first post!!

Its a Dre beat and to be honest, a boring Dre beat! And KoKane on the hook, haven't heard from him in a while.
