After months of threatening to I finally bought a scanner a sleek shiny (in a rather boxy sort of fashion) Epson v700 and got to business with it on Wednesday after a few hours of testing.

Any generous comments welcomed (and brickbats too if you like).

More shots will appear on a regular basis. :)

This scanning marlarkly is pretty brutal I have to say, shots that I thought were sharp turning out not to be, slightest flaws suddenly obvious etc

Nice photo's I'm looking to get the v500 myself sometime soon so I can scan some of the photo's I've been getting on my OM4.

How swift at scanning is the 700 though?

It depends which mode you use - in Professional with unsharp mask and ICE feature on quality setting scanning at 300 dpi to a 1500x1000 pixal image it takes about 3 mins per image.

Crap - I just googled v500 - its 40% cheaper! Ah its DMAX is 3.4 which is a bit low for best results. (v700/v750 has 4 DMAX) and the light source is less pure and its "only" good for 35,000 cycles rather than 100,000.

Are there any particuarly cool flickr groups that I should give the oppotunity to reject my application? ;)
