From legendary director Mark L. Lester (of Commando fame) comes what is arguably the pinnacle of the 80s cheesy action movie genre (even though it wasn't released until 1991, truly a relic of a bygone age:pac: ).
Get this; Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee are two LA cops who team up to fight the Yakuza. You know what that means, plenty of martial arts action, cheesy one liners and a hellova lot of homosexual innuendo. If you taught Commando pushed the boundaries of genre wait 'til you see this clip!

How many homo erotic innuendos did you count in that scene alone? I think there was about six.In any case its quite fun to watch their clearly more than platonic relationship bloom. Heck, I wrote a thesis on it in college.

Boasting an all star* cast including Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat) and Tia Carrere (Wayne's World 1&2) Showdown In Little Tokyo is the perfect night in with beers and buddies movie!

*really depends on what you call a star :p

Excited yet? Tell me that didn't give you a little bit of mahogany.

Showdown is a film which I will always remember fondly. I can still recall watching it on VHS after recording it off sky movies when I was about ten and loving it. 80 minutes of fighting, swearing, sex and Dolph Lundgren jumping over cars.

Picked it up on DVD a few months back and it's aged very well. Sure some of the acting is wooden but no one sits down to watch Showdown for an acting master-class.

TBH I always thought that (as 80's action heroes go) Dolph was extremely underrated, as an actor. That and the fact that he looked as big as Arnold but could actually move in fight scenes

I'm a massive Lundgren fan and have been shouting the praises of his recent films. The Mechanik is one of the most enjoyable action films in years and Missionary Man is also excellent. In fact here's my review of it.
