those remotes cost a fortune, some times a lot more then the device that its controlling, but if its well looked after it is the best remote you can get (from reading other peoples reviews)

I recently just bought one of these and i can say that it is a fantastic device within one day i had 4 remotes packed away and even the missus was able to use it immediately.

That is a great price for a bricks & mortar outlet.

Pixmania have it for €266.50 + P&P, so only €20 or so cheaper.

Well worth it from Peats IMO.

Mmmmm. Looks great - full review here.

Work on an NTL/Chorus DVR box, I wonder?

Edit: About €230 delivered here on Fleabay...

Have the 885 - would definitely recommend it. got it from iBood for about €90. Would suggest that anyone who is considering this look at that first as the features on this seem particularly advanced for serious set ups. For anyone with the standard, TV, Home Cinema, Set top box, stereo set up they probably wouldn't need the extra €200 worth of features.

On the NTL/Chorus question - on the 885 there's an infrared receiver at the bottom of the remote that will learn the signals for any device that isn't already in the database, so if you have the orinal IR remote for any device you can program it to work with it. It's actually a pretty simple process. I would assume that this being a couple of models up you can do the same.

If you know anyone in the US, you could have the Harmony 1000 delivered for around €170 through amazon.com

The shop selling it will ship internationally but the shipping rates for Europe are ridiculous.

Hubby bought me this for my birthday last month. It does everything except get me a coffee and biscuits during the ads!

We have TV, Sky+, DVD/CD, Video and amp stacked in the unit so you can imagine how many remotes we have!

Nice and easy to use and set up ~ even the hubby can work it :p

I got mine (second hand) from a guy on avforums.com they have a big classified area there and i got it for 170eur delivered and it is in perfect condition its seriously like new and came with the box and all manuals. The touchscreen function of this remote is cool and it can double up as a digital photo frame which is pretty cool too.

so so tempted. Gadgets are my downfall. Ohh to have a job working for Stuff Magazine or T3. It's one nice piece of kit and decent price.

Does the 1000 handle only IR remotes or can it also be used for remotes that use wireless or radio frequency? I have the 885 but a mate needs a touchscreen remote that will also work with his wireless velux windows and lighting system, wonder if the 1000 might be a fit?

The Logitech site is not very clear on the RF capabilities.

I seem to remember in a review that it can do RF, but you need a €60-70 add-on.

The 895 remote comes with the RF extender IIRC

I'll go see if I won anything on the lotto last night, and if I did, and it's over a grand, I'll buy one.

If it's over a hundred grand I'll buy you all one.

And a white wine or a fruit-based drink for the ladies!

EDIT: Predictably, not even a used scratchcard. Oh well. Back to the coffee-table-drawer-full-of-remotes with me!

I was tempted to wait for the Harmony 885 to be available again, but I ran out of will so I took the plunge and ordered one.

Now all I need to do is wait for delivery...
