Change your password on your facebook account and on your email account.

But there should be no way they could get my password. Impossible like:eek: getting a bit scared now!

Would be very interested to know if you had received any posts/messages or added new applications prior to this....

    A likely story druggy.

You were probably off your head on "the gange" and forgot about sending the message.

Its called Reefer Madness, and its serious business.

    Could be worse.

My account on another site similar to facebook was hacked and destroyed on me. They changed my password and all so I can't even delete my pics or details. Just random pics and copycat profiles floating around cyberspace!

    Still freaks me out! :(

Don't get those smooth, lacy, sweet smelling, black knickers of yours in a twist Larianne. There's all sorts of ways for people to find out about your private information.

Nope, I don't add any applications at all.

And nope I'm not into any of that stuff.

    Very strange indeed!!

Not wearing those today, in the wash! :)

But my password isn't linked to any of my personal details, at all. Clever bugger whoever it was.

Eh, I was in the Philippines over a month ago and used internet cafe there but always logged out and made sure I did so.

Logging out wouldn't stop someone who used a keylogger...

If there was a keylogger on the computer loggin out wouldn't matter. The keylogger records what keys you've pressed.

EDIT: Read it wrong. Thought you said you only viewed facebook logged out. If you did log in a keylogger still could have gotten your details.
Ditto with your bank details, email accounts, etc.

what's that? Can you tell if there's one on the keyboard, is it underneath the keyboard. Feckin Filopinos! They all seem so nice though

Yes, just checked my email account and online banking. Both fine, thank god!

Definitely time to change the password. Now if not sooner!

It's a piece of software on the computer. I'd still change the passwords on your email and online banking account just to be on the safe side.

what was your previous face book password? Was it secure? All my passwords (i have a few!) are alphanumeric and have symbols such as ! ? And -. Was your password linked in any way to your profile? Home town? Your name etc? Maybe they just guessed your password, its quite possible ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 798 ✭✭✭nocal

But seriously - try not to use a word, mix upper and lower case letters and use numbers.
If you do use an actual word as a password at least use upper and lower case letters and replace vowels with digits 1 insted of i, 0 instead of o and all that jazz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

It was a series of letters, all lower case though, but would not have made sense to anyone except me! I thought it was a very good password.... right back to change me password again.. put some capital letters into the mix.

    FS.

All sorted now. Checked email account, nothing sent out from it and bank account looking alright as well. Tis all very strange.

Just hope I remember the new passwords!

you could contact face book to notify them of the situation. They can delete the account if you want i'm sure.

Same thing happened me 2 months ago.

    Same message and all.

No problems since I changed my passwords on my Facebook and Hotmail accounts.

Politician in England had her Msn hacked this week. So Facebook hacks could be through msn/hotmail.

Yes, I just emailed them there in case, and it looks like it has happened to someone else. So maybe its not a case of keyboard logging but someone is hacking into the system.

Nothing was touched/changed with my hotmail account.

...off to edit my personal details.... AGAIN!

THEY will send YOU a mail.

They sent me one anyway thinking that I'd left my account open in some internet cafe. Havent used a public computer in over year...

Loads of people have had this "smoke bud" thing done to their facebook.

Change your passwords and you'll be fine.
