I have got the standard Irish passport with a couple of years left till it expires, but do I need one of those fancy new machine readable ones to get into to the US now or will the standard one suffice. I am slightly confused, getting conflicting answers. Anyone know?

As long as you have one like below, you are fine. Machine readable ones are a good few years old now at this stage.

on my irish passport which doesnt expire for 5 years, the corners for about 1 or 2 milemeters are starting to curl up, do you think that immigration will give me hassle for this.. aer lingus check in bird mentioned it before when heading to holland
wud have liked to have kept it as i have numerous us immigration stamps and a us working visa on it, among other stamps.. should i get it replaced before i travel to the usa this august?

if in doubt and it's been mentioned to you at check in before then i'd replace it. Better safe than sorry.

Had the same query as the OP myself and just to clarify it for anyone else see:

That should clear up any confusion
