unlocking a 3 uk modem to use 3 ire sim

    Is it possible to unlock a UK three modem to be able to use an irish three sim in? At the moment the modem will not accept the irish sim?

    You pay the ORIGINAL operator to unlock any out of contract phone or Modem. They are obiliged to do so, but it can be expensive.


    Some models of phone and modem can be unlocked by user using special SW, adapters and/or PC and codes. Be wary of eBayers and similar offering such services, many are scams.

    This is what I did

    Get 3 drivers here

    Go to dc-unlocker and unlock for €15

    I am now surfing on a T-Mobile E220 with 3pay sim

    original 3 data card.. not the usb modem.... unlocked it with dc-unlocker 15 euro... ordered o2 at the weekend it arrived yesterday.. funnily enough I had no access to three for most of the day... put the o2 sim in it... changed the apn to open.internet... and it works a treat... never had more than 500 last night speed test on the o2... 1100 kbps.. i'm using the linksys wrt54g3g router and so far it's about 50% better than 3...

    couldn't get a signal with the usb modem direct into my laptop... but the linksys throws the signal around the house.. and have it placed in the best position for signal.. also have an extra aerial attached that sticks onto the window...

    in my opinion... it's worth the extra 30 per month... considering when i signed up with the three originally it was 39.99 per month with 3gb download.. cap..

    I assume that this dc unlocker is just software? Ive had a quick look via google? Once ive unlocked the modem i assume i have to put different settings into it?
