Hi, Have a sony erricsson meteor mobile, have it almost a year and asked them to unlock it in march as i travel to uk alot and have uk sim. After several calls I'm still waiting, they keep telling me it's down to sony ericsson not giving them code. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi, yep I had exactly that problem, w200i by any chance? Every time I rang up I was just told whatever suited them to keep me away for a few more days so eventually I sent an angry e-mail (5 times just to make certain) and they got back to me with the unlock code the next morning. The only reason I resorted to the angry e-mail was because the polite and patient approach wasn't working, it just made it easier for them to string me along. I'll send you on the e-mail I sent by PM!

Same phone- PAYG. They gave me the run around then an incorrect unlock code. Gave up in the end.

Hi, Phone is k550i and was told 2-3 weeks first call, waited a month called back told no record of first call. Made request again, waited.... nothing. In meantime been to uk paid €45 roaming calls. Rang again something along lines of "sorry ur request hasn't gone through" waited again 2-3 weeks, called back "we're having problem getting codes, will be sorted soon Very sorry" Called again told "can't find emei on records", Called again "have requested unlock code just waiting for SE to reply". Finally rang yesterday got mad, gave me €10 free credit and apologised AGAIN. Said I'd have code by friday. Have been with meteor 4 years always been very helpful and prompt to act. Reception good (much better than others in my area). Don't want to change network just use my uk sim when in uk. But I'm wondering now about changing to 3 don't know much about them but think signalpretty good here(unlike 02 and vodaphone.)

Thanks for pm you're more polite than I was!

Could you send me that e-mail too please? Moving away and I can't see them giving me the code before then otherwise

Why are your roaming calls that high? Meteor have an agreement with T-Mobile where it's free to receive calls, 20c a minute to make calls (excl. a 29c connection fee per call). That's cheaper than most PayG networks in the UK.

That time i was in uk almost 2 weeks hence €45 in calls. Also even though I've called twice about roaming since Nov 07, I didn't get this offer. Another metoer c*ck-up, they gave me €10 credit and apologised and last trip 5 days only spent €4.37 with this offer. The sim I use there is either very cheap or free to same network, But in general yes uk tariffs are very high.

Dropped in to o2 today to get my SE w300i switched over to their network. They said that I'd have to call Meteor's Customer Care and ask for this infamous unlock code. Anyone know what the chances of me getting this code before o2's promotion ends is? I intend to give them a call in the morning.

My god, if I get the run around from a network I look for a manager immediately and refuse to hang up unless they connect me with a manager(often seems to happen with meteor) a k550i is an o2 phone. Are you sure you gave them the correct model! Next time your onto meteor ask for a manager and make a complaint-ask for credit for the trouble their causing

Meteor also had the K550i, though not for about 6 months or so now. It was also available in CPW on Meteor in a horrible purple colour.

Yeah, some SE's can be a b*mmer to unlock...regardless of network. If it's costing you so much, and you're fed up waiting maybe you should get it unlocked somewhere else? Or why don't you buy some cheap phone for your UK number?

I've had 4 SE phones never a problem to unlock before, As I said never had a problem with meteor service either. Had the phone about 10mths and don't see why I should pay to get it unlocked as I was assurred it was no problem on many ocassions. Plus I'm a bit stubborn and I will call every hour if i have to untill i get the code.
Have spoken to supervisor, she sent several emails and is calling me back monday(she wasn't working weekend).
Latest is i recieved an email saying SE say they didn't sell Meteor the phone so can't give them the code????? Rang about this too, waiting for call back. I don't see why i should pay out more money for another phone to use in uk. Usually have a spare old (unlocked) phone but it had an unfortunate accident involving large pot of chicken curry.
