I'mgoing to Germany in September for 9months to teach English in a school over there. Does anyone know of any ranges in that area as I will crack up if I can't do a bit of shooting over there. I want to take over my 9mm and my .220 ruger swift. any info or advice regarding the procedure to bring over my guins would also be very much appreciated!
    Thanks

I think he said it in the title :D

I'd say your best bet is to go to the Deutscher Schützenbund website here and have look around to see if they give details of what's in the area.

My German's no good, but if you're teaching there then I'd expect you'll be able to read it and follow the links.

Have fun bringing your stuff over to Germany:eek:.
It is NO easy feat owning guns over there. You will 1st off have to register where you are living at the landratsamt[type of city council, who also deal with firearms applications].Then you will have to join a shooting club[scheutzenverein],who usually have a probie time of 6 to 12 months. In which you mustprove competance in firearms handling, and irrespective of your saftey record here will proably start you off on air pistol/rifle again.
You have to log up time before they will sign you off for your sportscheutzen waffen schein[ a sports weapons permit].This is a written oral and practical test on firearms, useage, law and saftey and competance. You will only be permitted to own and use on that liscense guns suitable to sport shooting. So your 204 might be considerd a hunting rifle and unsuitable to sport shooting..All in all it is a major hassle and major PITA.
So this is what I would suggest.. If the shooting bug bites you,hop on a train and go up to Hamburg city and go to the Hanseatic gun club, talk to Micheal Schutz, who is now well fammilar with Irishmen dropping in for training or shooting and explain you want to shoot some 9mm or whatever.Get to shoot a good selection of handguns, shotguns and rifles there and pay about 60 euros for the privilidge.
Or bimble off one weekend to Prauge and go to any shooting range there and shoot everything from 9mm pistols up to Dragunov sniper rifles or full auto AKs.top gun tours in Prauge do some good packages on this.
Might sound expensive, but it isa lot less hassle than trying in 9months to get your guns over there.By the time you might have them over there,it will be time to go home.
