BT ADSL Connection Resetting Periodically

    Hi

Has anyone else noticed their BT ADSL connection resetting requiring a manual reconnect from the router. Line stats, speeds etc. are perfect, I just have to reset the connection.

Happens daily for a couple of days then not for weeks. Appears to be during the night and very occasionally at lunch.

Is this to do with work for speed upgrades?

    Any suggestions welcome.

BT resets everyones connection session every 24 hours and it's a pain in the @rse. On reconnection you get a new IP address and, afaik, you data transfer is tallied for the day. Mine usually goes between 12 & 1am. The connection should come back up automatically but usually doesn't.
Nothing to do with the upgrades.

This was fine at first with me, since I used to unplug the modem during the day and when I went to bed at night, since I never noticed it. But when I started leaving the modem on 24/7 it got to be a real pain in the arse. It would disconnect regardless to the activitiy on the connection, and I would get disconnected in the middle of a Skype call, or an IM conversation.

This is the main reason I switched to DigiWeb, and I have never been happier. They dont reset their customer's connections or force an IP change, so while MSN drops out on the odd occasion (Only happens with the non-windows version  ) I am not bugged with the problems I had before because my IP doesnt change.

Personally I would vote with my wallet and tell BT to stuff it, switch to a better provider, I went with Digiweb because the option is open to switch to their Metro service, YMMV

Cant say mine is being reset cos it happens so ****ing frequently.

Have them sending me out a new router to see if it helps. Completely randomly the router drops the adsl conn but the line is still active. *sighs*

I've given up on BT. I had a great connection via the old zyxxel modem they had. When wireless came into play for Xbox and laptops, I just got added wireless router and continued my merry way.

Then the zyxel started dieing and hey sent me a wireless Voayger 2110..and thats when my woes started.
Kids complain Xbox live always has medium connection at best, my own online gaming gets lag (using the ethernet connection), and then recently my internet light goes out every day at 10am.

I think a lot has to do with the Modems. Been troubleshooting for a few weeks now and the best they could do so far is tell me to go into the modem config and connect again...yipee I don't have to reset the modem...great stuff tech support, a victory :(

    ...signed with Smart yesterday...

I had this same problem. its a bloody PITA!!

Some people having the problem also!

I wonder if we sign a petition or something to get them to change that stupid system... if we can get 100 names of people treating to leave, that could be an average of €10,000 a billing period that BT would loose out on. €60,000 a year, (assuming an average bill of 100 euro every 2 months)

just before i post this, i went and made a petition!!

    That should do it!
