    Any good?

    Where could I get it within a few days in Dublin or Ireland for less than €130

    I would suggest SB600 if possible (if you have the funds and don't mind the extra bulk).

    Other people on this forum will attest that I love saving money when possible but the speedlight is one area where it pays to pay a little extra (I got my SB600 for 170 from China). You get an red light AF assist light (much much better than your onboard white light), swivel ability and better power/flash recycle times...

    miles better than on board flash
    uses only 2 batteries and it's very small and light
    very powerful for indoor shooting
    try kea or urgalaxy, they usually deliver in 1 week, some e-seller in Scotland but I can't remember their name

    Its not bad, you would defo be better off with the sb600 or even the sb800 but as time is of the essence and funds seem to be an issue you can get one from expansys on the link below, its just over €130 but i think its a good deal for new, and expansys are very fast with deliveries.

    i have an array of flash units from the sb-200 macro (dinky) ones up to the SB-800, including 500 and 400 models. My advice would be to get the 600 if you will use that as your main flash unit. The 400 is pretty limited in what it can do. You will eventually want to do things like off camera flash and all that, get more creative, and i think you will be kicking yourself if you only have one sb400 unit to play with. The sb800 is great but expensive for what you get, it's really a pro flash unit, but the sb-600 bought off e-bay is great value for money as thirdfox says.

    mind you, off camera flash is not an option on D40/x or D60

    sorry i meant sb-400 :pac::pac: i won't be buying an SB-500 until i get my D3X body :o

    Thats true with of camera flash, is the OP using a D40/x or D60? I still think the Sb-600 is the better buy though, the 400 is only going to be a stop-gap and will end up costing hime more in the long run i'd imagine as he will outgrow it pretty quickly. Can you buy Stofen diffusers and gels and stuff to fit the sb-400?
