MCP or N+ over the summer?

    guys

basically I'm doing a degree in Business and IT at night and will (hopefully) have my summer free. So I was thinking of picking up some IT certification over the next 2 - 3 months.

I've the best part of 10 years practical experience supporting desktops and server, I've a few years experience being the sole IT person.

so would i be best going for the CompTia Network + or an MCP in XP?

I would say an MCP for 2 reasons...
Its nearly half the price exam wise and it is a start towards an MCSA (4 Exams)/MCSE (7 Exams)....

    Just my opinion though.

With that much experiance the N+ isn't worth your while.

Why not go for a full "MCSE in 2003"?

    ditto.

    You're way beyond N+.

You would be able to get more than the XP Pro(70-270) done over the summer...

Get the Vista MCTS quite easy and also do the 70-270 as your MCSA client exam

Leaves you with 70-290 and 70-291

Only one you should have any trouble with will be the 291 exam i think

What about something like Security+. I haven't done it myself, but it might be quite interesting.

I think it counts as an elective for an mcsa / mcse in secutity.

It does, as does N+ and A+. But I think they only count for MCSA.

    Could be wrong though.

S+ counts as elective for both MCSA and MCSE but N+,A+ only counts towards MCSA

what is even better is, if you used 70-620 as your OS exam, later on if you want to upgrade to MCITP enterprise or server, you have one less exam to worry about.
