I have recently whacked my big toe to the point of bruising, now I am left with a teo nail that is dark purple, bascially that is all the dried blood under the toe nail. Any ideas how to get rid, going somewhere hot soon

Hmmm bar paint all your toes with a dark varnish to mask the colour I'm afraid I have no miracle cure! Those kind of bruises can take a while to go though unfortunately!

    Is the toe really swollen?

my Mum caught her thumb in her golf trolley a while ago and had to get a needle into the nail to drain the fluid out, her nails still all manky and black. was about 2 months ago now!

I vaguely remember some relation hitting his finger with a hammer and having dried blood under his nail like you described. My mother tied a piece of string around the top of his finger, tight enough to cut off the circulation, and pricked under the nail to release the blood. It doesn't sound very nice, but it worked.

Wait for it to drop off itself is the best advice, and in the meantime use stick on ones available in Boots, to disguise the mankiness. Just using the big toe nails on both feet, and french polishing the rest to match looks well.

Or alternatively just paint them all purple.:)

Arnica is a really good natural remedy for bruising although I am not sure if it would work on something that bruised. It's certainly worth giving it a try though. You can get it in any healthfood shop or some pharmacies.
