Only proper, Angels and Demons is pretty much the same story line as The DaVinci Code. Quite a pointless piece of work. The DaVinci Code is also ****. I don't know why the Catholic Church made should a big deal about such bad writing.

Dan Browne's writing is nearly as bad as most of my posts!!!!! :D

I take it back I have more talent than Dan Browne, but then so do most people. :(

Yep. Mediocre book. Mediocre film. Massive public outcry. Massive success.

Fools! Just ignore it and it will go away.

Don't ban the film from the church, ban it from the edit suite! Jesus, why does great stuff like a Halo adap get put on the back burner yet muck like this, a sequel to a critically slaughtered piece of crap get greenlit?

I tried to read the book but only got past the first two pages before throwing it aside. The Da Vinci Code was bad enough, but Angels and Demons was just pure crap. Someone told me that Brown was the new Charles Dickens. Oh how I laughed.

I assume that this books are popular due to the failing of educational systems all around the world?

Have those eejits not figured out yet that banning things makes them more popular? Maybe they have. I wonder why Rome is promoting this? :pac:

The opening post is a little confusing... so I think it's worth stressing that what they've done is refuse permission for them to film scenes for the prequel in two of the churches in Rome.

I see. Still wish someone had gone to the effort of promoting banning Space Above and Beyond. :(. (yes, I will continue to bring it up in every thread possible)

I thought Angels and Demons was way better than the Da Vinci Code

The church banning it is only going to show how scared the church is of different ideas about history and religious structures and beliefs. They think that if they allow the filming in these churches that people will all of a sudden say "Wait a minutes, religion is a lie!" I mean, come on, people are starting to realise that more and more anyway!! A film won't change the anti-christian sentiment thats going around

I think its making the church look like old, archaic fuddy duddies TERRIFIED of a new way of thinking

I actually agree with this. I read it when I was going on holiday to Rome, so it was interesting to see some of the spots mentioned in the book and to see some of the little bits of trivia that are refered to. But then, about half-way through I figured out the ending and just couldn't be arsed reading the rest.

I think Angels and Demons could be a good movie, even though TDC made about 700million worldwide, making it an official blockbuster 7 times over, I'd say they could learn their lesson from it, the parts the fans thought hammy and stupid, as far as acting and directing goes

This would be the cheesiest movie! What can slightly work as a book rarely works as a movie. I enjoyed both books as airplane reads, keeping the boredom away, and doesnt matter if you lost your place.

Well done the vatician turn a work of fiction into reality! People will start believing that the last pope was murdered soon and that that evil looking chap now in charge killed him to take his place!

as earlier stated if they stopped bringing such huge attention to things they'd dissappear.

    Cheers for that!

For what its worth, I thought Angels and Demons would make a better movie that Da Vinci Codes, but only in the style of better being big brainless blockbuster that audiences seem to lap up. As is said above, its ridiculously predictable (even if you never seen Da Vinci Codes!)

Oh. I thought they had finished filming it and that the churches had banned them from showing the film in Rome.

I was wondering why a church would screen a movie.

I don't think you can say that the church brought huge attention to angels and demons ... or the da vinci code.

Here, it seems just to be a case of the filmmakers asking to use the churchs, and the diocese saying no. Seems like others (maybe the films publicists) are making more of it then is really there.

I don't think the Vatican took any kind of stance on the Da Vinci code, except to say that it was just a work of fiction. At least until people started believing the book was historic fact. At that point the vatican appointed a bishop to debunk the book. But that was in 2005. Well after the "controversy" started.

The book is awful and the movie will be too. Especially with Howard behind the wheel.

I normally would ignore the churches view on movies/books etc, but in this case i fully support their ban on filming in churches in rome. Hopefully this spreads to churches around the world. The book is anti Catholic, and while the author is entitled to his views etc, i wouldnt let anyone shoot a film in my house that portrayed a negative view of me, so i dont see why the church should either.

Although the da vinci code novel is an enjoyable romp, Brown is possibly one of the worst writers i have read. And ive read all his books!

I banned the church from my life a long time ago so this movie is like... double banned... or something...
In any case I'm not seeing it.
