My work bag got taken at a confernence last week.
I had my V5 and all my MOT's and my service history for my classic in the bag as I had planned to go to Naas to re-reg the car. I lost my wallet, House keys aand Car keys (daily driver). I have cancelled my cards and changed the locks in my house and got the electronic key changed in my car. What do I need to do now in relation to my missing documents? Is there a way of re-reg without the V5? Or do I need to order a new one as per other threads. I checked the DVLA on the reg of my car and it is down as exported. I sent a copy to Swansea at the time. Therefore they should have my details. With regard to the MOT's are there records for these kept somewhere or is it the case that if you lose them thats it. I suppose the good new is that I have no intention of selling the car.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ask the DVLA for a copy of the export document and V5. Shouldn't be a problem after that !

Sorry hear that bad luck BTW

The best thing to do is telephone Swansea and explain what has happened, and also if you reported it to the Gardai, that they can confirm the loss. All you will need is a Certificate of Export which will have all the details of the V5. I have always found Swansea most efficient in sorting out documents, so best of luck.

Regarding the MOTs, any done in the last 4-5 years will be recorded and can be accessed on the VOSA website, not sure if you can order copies.

I had a problem recently where Swansea posted the V5 to me and it vanished in the post. I found them very helpful and, altjough it took three phone calls and a fax, I had a replacement in 10 days.

You don't need the V5 to register it - just the Export Certificate you'll still have to get it from the DVLA - there's a form on their website somewhere they won't normally send you the V5 if it's been exported.
