Advice on switching networks

    Hey people,

Need a bit of advice with this one. At the moment, I'm a Meteor customer enjoying free Meteor-to-Meteor texts. However, the problem is that a number of my friends are on o2. One person in particular I've texted over 175 times this month alone (x .09 = €15.75) according to that thing that you can log into at www.meteor.ie to check.

So, at this point switching to o2 for their free texts to any network sounds pretty good. However, I like to call a fair bit, too. If I was to switch to o2, not only would I have to pay for voicemail but also 49 cent a minute for calls.

Can anyone advise me what they think I should do? And just a few questions, too.
    • If I switch to o2, can I keep the SE phone that I have at the moment and my 085 number?
    • Does I have to pay to switch to o2?
    • How long does switching over take and will my phone but out-of-action while they switch me over?
    • Is it true that o2's free texts end on the last day of the calendar month, and not 30 days after you top-up like with Meteor?
    • Can I keep all my messages/files/etc. that are currently on my phone if I do switch?
    • Do you have to text o2 before everytime that you top-up?
    • Can I switch to o2 in the Carphone Warehouse as my nearest o2 isn't that near at all?

    Thanks in advance,

    Pegasus15.
