Does anyone know where I could purchase this for relatively cheap in Dublin (online or in the shop), and would anyone know any particular brand that is good

    Cheers

I see that there is a very high protein content in this product, (27g per 30g serving).

Would this be a better supplement to take rather then whey protein?

Whey protein is absorbed quickly so post-workout it's perfect. Casein is slow-absorbing so in the evening before bed it's perfect.

For the rest of the day a whey/ casein blend is perfect :D

But seriously, whey is fine for most people's needs. If you want to slow down it's absorption just add a tablespoon of lax oil or mild olive oil to it - fats help slow down the absorption process. If you really want casein before bed you can also try eating cottage cheese - very casein rich.

    a tablespoon of lax oil

    Flax oil maybe?

Can see some people running down to the pharmacy for some laxatives!

And word round the campfire has it that customs are seizing anything from bodybuilding.com and keeping it for ages looking for steroids and stuff.
    Try www.bulkpowders.com
    the casein is dirt cheap.

As I said its €41.99 from the irish website discount supplemtns.ie. I was just wondering has anyone ever used it before and would it be worth buying. The protein from the supplement factory is dearer overall compared to the amount you get with the ON one.

Its a grand product - ON is a very reputable company. However your better off doing what gem recommended and take a whey shake with some good essential fats. The fats will slow down the absorption of the whey to make it more gradual release over night.

You can use a few different fats
    - Natural peanut butter, you can take a tbs on its own or in the shake
    - Macadamia nut oil, full of monounsaturates (i even cook with this)
    - Udos oil, similar to flax, its got a blend of 5 or 6 fats in it
    - or just some olive oil.

Im sure there are good reasons why, but could anyone explain to me why you'd want to slow the release?

Because you're asleep for 8 or however many hours. That's 8 hours you can't eat.

The casein digests slowly, so there's protein available to your body for most of the night. Unlike with whey, which might be digested in 40 mins or so.

Your going 8 or 10 hours without food when you go asleep so naturally even thought your asleep your going to get hungry. If you digest your whey in an hour or 2 of going to sleep your your not going to have any food in your stomach to let your body repair itself when you sleep. So if you can slow the the release you give your body more protein to work with over the time your asleep. Also your going to be in a state of anabolism instead of catabolism.

Simply make a shake(with milk)and have it beside your bed.then when(if) you wake up in the middle of the night you can cane it then.i've been doing it for ages and after a while your body gets used to waking up just long enough to gulp down the shake.
