    Yo Yo,

I bought MGS4 yesterday and it played fine, when i turned it on today the game began to freeze on me, i thought it was the disc so i cleaned it etc and it played grand for a few hours, then it froze again so i brought it back to change it for a new one.

When i tried it out again just there my PS3 wouldnt read the disc, as in it wouldnt show up in the menu or if i restarted it it wouldnt play straight off.

Iv tried other games and no joy.

Anyone had this issue before, BTW the PS3 was vertical when it started to happen.

    Cheers.

Have you tried a dvd or blu-ray disc? If it doesn't recognise either of these I think you may have the same problem I (and many others here like me) have had. My solution was to send it back to sony and get a refurbished model cos it was a 60gb model, but if your's is fairly new you should get a replacement from where you purchased it from.

Mine is only a 40GB one, i got it at christmas, still have the receipt but on the back it says that its only for 30 days?

    Is that right?

As far as I know you can bring it back to where you bought it within a year of purchase and receive a new console (according to the guy on the Sony helpline). Sure just give the store a buzz, explain what happened and see where they stand on the issue.

You have a year to get replacement, the 30day money back id say.
Where did you buy it, sony will probably tell you deal with the store first. I would go to the store and explain the situation, don't take any nosense.

Read up the consumer website have some facts to use as ammo.

Yeah had the same problem myself with a 40GB model I got around Christmas (there seems to have been a bad batch released around then, as quite a few people have had the same problem). Brought mine back to the Sony Centre I got it in and was only offered a refurb model but eventually I argued enough with them and they gave me a new one.

Your receipt is proof of purchase, you still have a years guarantee on the PS3. Bring it back to where you got it and you're entitled to a new one.

The same happened to me with my 60gb. I had got it in Xtravision and they were going to replace it with a brand new one but it was only a 40gb model. So I contacted Sony and they replaced it within a week or so as long as I had my receipt to send with them.

Yeah they just gave me a new one straight off, pretty sound about it.
