Two Weddings - One Hotel

    Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone had a wedding reception in a hotel which was holding two wedding receptions on the one day.
If so, how did it go?

Did it take away from your big day?
Did the brides feel that it lessened the "special" factor for them?
Did people from the other group gatecrash your drinks reception?

Or did it all go fine. Maybe you never even noticed that there was another wedding reception on?

I would really like to know your opinions

    Many thanks,
    CP

    Hi Carpark
I dont think its alot to ask in this day and age to have only one wedding per hotel per day, which I think is the norm now. Thats unless both weddings are double booked and cant be cancelled? Im sorry I know Im not much help! I remember years ago I worked in a hotel where they could hold 3 weddings per day! It was chaotic! But back then I dont think people minded as much :D

You'll want to make sure your wedding is the most fun. I was at a really boring wedding a few years ago. There was another wedding in the function room next door which looked great. Some guests did defect.

It is a lot to ask a hotel to not have another wedding the same day - that could be a serious lack of revenue for them. Depending on the hotel (i.e. if they are a busy "wedding" hotel), it could simply be part of the non-negotiable T&C's that there may be another wedding on the same day.

I can't remember if there was another wedding the day we got married (which is testament to how well the events were managed), but if there was, the two were kept completely separate.

To be fair a lot of places pretty much guarantee that they will only host one wedding a day, considering how much you are going to spend I think its only fair you get that level of attention.

Also to be fair I think it also depends on the hotel. Some hotels frankly are not set up to cater for 2 major functions in one day. You should be able to assess that yourself :)

Fair enough but I think 99% of hotels offer a "one wedding per day" agreement, I'm assuming your a fella? I don't think men would look at 2 weddings in the same hotel the same way a woman would!

If that's part of the deal, then cool. Our hotel could have been the exception as the two function rooms were very separate (in fact, I think one could be in a different building), and I think they even had different residents' bars as well.

    Correct on both counts!

It depends on the numbers you are bringing as to weather or not the hotel has only one wedding on.

The function rooms were beside each other but had separate entrances

OP we got married last year and there was another wedding on as well. I didn't mind but the wife did and said she felt it took away from her big day.

The upside to the whole thing was they finished the other wedding at bang on 1.30. we were merrily still drinking at 2 3.30.

As I said it depends on the numbers you have going as to weather or not there will be two weddings on.

Sorry but I've never heard of this! Most hotel websites clearly state that they have a "one wedding per day policy" which means they must stick to it regardless if you are having 10 or 100 people. I'm sure if they don't state this and you don't ask they will probably try and get away with 2 weddings. Personally I would go mental if there was another wedding in the same hotel, you don't want to be looking at another bride on your wedding day, listening to people comparing her dress to yours etc & "oh look they have such & such, how come you didnt to that? etc etc etc! Us women are such bitches aren't we?!!!!!

This is really two different things - some hotels simply can't cater for two weddings with 100+ people; they may have one function room for a large group and one function room for a much smaller group.

And as I said, some hotels are set up so you wouldn't even know there was two weddings on.
