Does anyone know how many Brazilians are playing at Euro 2008?

Off the top of my head I can think of these players how are / could be Brazilian : Deco, Pepe, Mehmet Aurelio, Kuranyi, Gomez, Roger Gurreiro, Marcos Senna, Gelson Fernandes

I remember commentators saying this plenty of times before, but Wikipedia has him down as born in Brazil to a German/Hungarian Father and Panamanian mother. wtf? how could the commentators be so consistently wrong?

After tonight I don't think Brazil would want Gomez anyways :P

from Wiki...So you know its true;)

He was born to a German-Hungarian[1] father and a Panamanian mother. He eventually opted to play for the German national football team after being qualified to play for Brazil, Hungary and Panama[2].

    and Gomez

Mario Gómez García (born July 10, 1985 in Riedlingen) is a German footballer of German-Spanish descent (his father is a Spaniard from Granada and his mother is German).

its still a good point from the OP, makes me wonder why there arent more Argetinians doing the same (Camronesi sp? we know).

like someone said in another thread maybe the Gort boyos will give us Brazillian/Irish to go with the Polish/Irish and more for the futureirish squad.

    Good post pigman II....very interesting!
I always thought Zlatan Ibrahimovic was born in Yugoslavia, but apparently not! His parents are Yugoslavian and Croatian and he was born in Swedan.
I'm suprised the Dutch have none to be honest, seen as they used to have guys like Seedorf and Davids who were born in Suriname.

Brazil could have a team though, there's players like Marcio Nobre and Cafu (Turkey) who weren't called up to the final squad.
And then there's Ailton of Germany

This has always intrigued me since I seen the Japan leftback Alex and the 2002 WC, he was half Brazilian and looked a nifty little left back.

Heres a list on wiki I found of Brazilains who could/have/did play for other teams.

    God damn Brazilians

Oliveras goal kept us out of France 1998 (was it a play off? Cant remember)

Sepp Blatter should stamp this out rather than messing with the EPL re foreign players.

Dont agree. Only fair that if countries that attract immigrants such as France can use immigrants who grew up there (Makelele, Viera and Evra), countries that sent out migrants should have a fair crack and all (its hardly exclusively Irish. German Turks have played for Turkey. Alot of Carribean teams source English born descendants, usually c`ship or league one types. Fmr French colonies do the same with French born players e.g. Sissoko plays for Mali I think)

As said previously, Id have loved to see the red tops if England had got through and Kazim Richards created a goal or assist against them :D
