    HI Guys

I'm about to buy a Canon eos 450D Body and was wondering if any of you guys could recommend a good affordible lense for product photography (furniture in studio) and general everyday photography. I dont want anything too expensive as I am only a DSLR beginner. Good places to buy would also be very welcome.

    thanks
    freddie

depending on what products, a nifty fifty (50mm prime lens) might fit the bill, cheap under €100 and sharp, for photographing something smaller maybe sigma 70-300 apo dg has a macro setting though you would have to be approx 10 feet away!

those are the 2 lenses that I have.

I took this picture of a limpet with the sigma I think I was 10 feet away

    apart from that
a macro lens for smaller stuff or a wide angle for larger stuff cars. you will also have to worry about light so some sort of lighting kit might be required be it a home made lightbox and some sort of background ( a large white sheet)

Depends on the size and how much room you have, last product shots I took were small enough up to car sized cabinets and for the small ones I used a 100mm macro and the large I used a 24-70 f2.8. Probably a good compromise would be something like the Sigma/Tamron 18-50 f2.8 both I think have some kind of macro and are wide enough to take in larger items. You can get it on the net or in places in town like Gunns/Conns Cameras/Berminghams.
