It's not available in bottles. Primarily it's made for Messrs Maguire in Dublin, where it's served on nitro. A cask version is a regular at Tara's Bar in Killaloe, and it occasionally shows up in other places: festivals, guest taps in UK pubs, etc. But with the brewery's current set-up it's unlikely to be bottled.

Can it even be bought in kegs? Is there anyway I can get it for my home bar?

Never say never. The man to contact is its brewer, Cuilan. He has contact details on his embryonic web site.

That might be a while as it looks like the the brewer/brewery and management bar might be parting ways

It's a lovely beer, and I always drink it when I go to Messrs.

Good on them. Except, like the Porter and Bock last year, it may well be a single batch job. It is their most popular beer, so makes sense as the one to bottle. But I'd rather have the Porter.

    Bigger body, fuller flavour.

    lol.

    There is no comparison.

In fairness, Smithwick's isn't served on nitro, a dispense method which I believe all the bars in hell are now using.

Smithwick's is pretty damn thin, though.

Is it just me or has it developed an artificial sweetener taster to it over the last while on the draft version anyway?

Can't say I've noticed, but it's not something I drink very often.

Do you lads know of any pubs in Dublin that sell Smithwick's in pint bottles?

I was drinking them down in Waterford recently, and thought it was wuite nice.

Having said that, I do like the large bottles of Macardles. Yum.

The stags head has Macardles or at least it did last Saturday

It would appear that Smithwick's in pint bottles is less common than Guinness in Dublin

Ah yeah, I know of a few pubs around my locality that have Macardles alright.

Aye, it would seem that way alright. It's a pity.

I had never seen these until recently, but I've not seen them in any pubs. Generally speaking, O'Neill's on Suffolk Street tends to be good for that sort of thing.

Messrs beer has been availalble on home draft in the past. The brewer used to provide all the gas a parphenalia required to serve at home but the brewery is in a transition period at the moment so I'm not sure if this is still availaible.

Now that you mention it, I think they still have a sign for that in their window.
