    Hi all,
We've booked sailing to Cherburg for mid July for 3weeks, We usually head for the Vendee in France but this year thinking somewhere different. We've considered the Italy & Switzerland but quiet a few people have mentioned Germany. We have two car boys aged 6 & 10 who are mad keen on cars so a visit to the factories/museums would be a consideration. Also a few themeparks along the way.
Has anybody got any suggestions on where to go. I don't mind driving but dont want to spent the entire holiday driving either. All suggestions welcome.

You could make your way (via Paris?) to the Alsace region of France which is very nice and I'm sure Bugatti has a museum there somwhere, then cross over to the Black Forest and Lake Constance. There is the Zeppelin museum in Friedrichshafen and of course the Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart.

On the way back north there is the Technik museum Sinsheim and Speyer with towns like Heidelberg to visit. The Mosel area and the hockenheimring isn't far from there either.

I'll try and root out some links for those museums after work.

Ah yes, excellent suggestions, mapped them all and looks very practical over a three week period. Looking at around 2600 Kms round trip so far. Keep them suggestions coming, unchartered territory as we haven't done Germany in the MH before. Bugatti certainly on the list (due an upgrade:D), BlackForest region another cert and mabey even a couple of days in Paris. Keep them coming, may need another thread for "practial German touring" in the next few weeks.:D:D

If you're in the black forest, you might as well go to the southern end of lake constance and into Austria. Scrape along the German/ Austrian border area (Vorarlberg / St. Anton down the Lech valley via Reutte to Fuessen) and take in the original Disney castle in Neuschwanstein and the alpine scenery inbetween.

This would also bring you closer to Munich and the BMW museum there :D

You're welcome ...just don't ask me about any current information about these areas. Black Forest / Allgaeu / Tyrol used to be my weekend / holdiay playground when I was a kid ...haven't been there in ages :D

    Peasant,
Have you considered a career as a travel advisor???:D Just back after approx 4000km trip through France & Germany (Paris, Freiburg, Lindau, Castle Newswanstein, Munich, BMW, Deuches Museum...the list goes on..) Your Advice and suggestions were 100% and we had an absolute ball. Thank you for your help and advice and we certainly plan to add Southern Germany to our travel plans in the future.
