Desperately Seeking Creative Writing Group/Class

    Hi all

I'm now based in Cork for a year now and haven't written in this time. Before this lived in Dublin and wrote every day. I attended workshops and classes at the Writers Centre, which was great; weekly classes, focussed and intelligent critiques. At a lose in Cork. Haven't found similiar situation to keep me focussed and writing. Yes, I know I should be dedicated enough to write all by myself, but the interaction and need to produce for class on a weekly basis gets me moving. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of signing up for the Open University Creative Writing course. Has anyone done this, and if so how would you rate it?

    thanks

    Hi there,
How are you? Sorry to bother you but I am currently living in Dublin- D7 and I was wondering if you could maybe tell me about the workshops and classes that you attended in Dublin? I would love to do something like that and would be very grateful for some more info- if you dont mind? Thanks again! :)

    No problem.

Here's the link to he Writers Centre website. I found the classes worked for me. A writing piece is assigned every week, and depending on the size of the class everyone gets a chance to read out their work and receive a critique from the class and tutor, which is great. The level is challenging enough but not intimidating at all. You'll also get to hear of other workshops, competitions, magazine submissions etc while on the course. My tutor was Yvonne Cullen, I would recommend her beginners course if that's the level you need to start with. The centre is central too, next to Hugh Lane Gallery on top of O Connell Street. Good luck!
