Looking at getting married sometime in october in ireland and call me crazy but i would really love a marquee wedding. What i would like to know is would a marquee hold up to this lovely irish weather, like the winds. i ll take care of d heating. i just want to know if the structure would usually remain standing. does anyone out there know? any marquee experiences would really help. Please? Thanks

I was married at the end of Sept and had one so they are more than capable of taking whatever goold Irish weather throws its way.

We had rain for most of the day and there wasnt a leak anywhere. We also had 2 decent heaters on for the majority of the day to heat up the room before guests arrived. Once people were in there they werent needed at all.

If there is anything else you want to know then just holla

Thanks mikeanywhere, good to know at least one person thinks it will hold. just a few questions where in ireland did your wedding take place? where did you hire the marquee from? how much did it cost in all? Did you have to decorate yourself? was it too much of a bother? and if you dont mind answering any regrets going the Marquee way? I ll definitely be asking you lots more questions as they come up. Thanks a mil

Trust me, it will hold!! ;)

We were married just outside Ballina in mayo. The crowd we got it from was Conlon Camping from Castlebar.

Sounds a dodgy name I know but trust me, very very professional and helpful. They came out to the house to do a site survey to ensure the place was big enough etc for what we were after. They came out about 3 or 4 days before the wedding to gt it setup and allow it to settle before the big day. We did have a small problem and the guys came back and sorted it out without hesitation too.

Cost wide, no idea as the wife sorted that out.

We hired all the gear we needed from a place in Oranmore (name escapes me) and again they delivered it all to give us the necessary time to put what we needed in place. Yes, we had to put everything together ie tables, linen on tables, cutlery, chairs with covers etc etc but having it come from the one source made it soooo much easier without worrying whether we had everything. We also had the same crowd deliver the cooking gear as we got in a chef and serving team.

We have Home Kegs do the bar for us that evening too and they were just amazing. A proper bar, drinks on tap along with everything needed for us to have a great and hassle free night.

Hope this is of help to you.

If you want, email directly on mike(at)mikepatterson.com as I don't check here too often.
