That was a long outage! Server crash, according to Twitter / boards_ie

At least I got to learn about Twitter, and signed up. A brilliant concept!

Yeah, that was not my favourite way to spend a Friday night.

Hardware to fix the problem that caused the downtime isn't terribly cheap, but it's on the way.

Well thank God, I almost resorted to having go out and talk to someone ;)

*Hugs Boards* Don't you ever leave me again baby. Don't you ever leave :)

Cult: Myself and Nerin were made mods of the nocturnal forum two days ago. Every night since then there's been unscheduled downtime. You trying to give us a message? :D

EDIT: Man that sucks about you giving up your Friday night. The curse of the IT guy.

Watch the video by the founder. The real benefit is via SMS. You text a message to Twitter, they send it to all your 'followers' - i.e. your mates (they have to be signed up too). Brilliant, I say!

I feel really sorry for CuLT! Boards should have a 'no breaking on Friday night' policy!

How many servers have you running boards.ie ? Was it a router that caused the outage or a server?

By nature i'm a very curious type of person.
Well if one of your backend servers went down it wouldn't of caused a total outage like it did last night.
    Where's your redundency?:)
