I was wondering if you can advice me about these two cities and the currency in Bratislava. I was there before but I didn't get to do too much, was just a short visit.
I am reading some travel guides but I want to know if someone was there, especially to Bratislava.
    Thanks

There is a lot to see and do in Vienna, and less in Bratislava. So I suggest that you give more of your time and attention to Vienna if your plans are still flexible -- perhaps visit Bratislava as a day trip.

They use the Slovakian Crown, but most businesses that you might encounter as a visitor are prepared to accept Euros. The effective exchange rate might not be great. If you intend to spend a bit, just wait until you get there and use an ATM.

    Thank you P. Breathnach.
Unfortunately the period I chose for my trip is exactly when the semifinals and finals are, so in Vienna everything is booked already.

That's why I chose the hotel in Bratislava, there are 60kms so I don't mind staying in Bratislava over night.
Also I was wondering if someone rent a car in there, I am checking the websites now. I could use a good advice about renting a car. I was thinking to do a short visit to Budapest and Prague if I get a car. My trip is 7 days so I can dedicate one day for Bratislava, 2 or 3 for Vienna and the rest for the other 2 towns.
It is a trip planned in the last minute so .. I am trying to do my best in these days.

I don't know about hiring a car, but there is a good and not too expensive rail service between Bratislava and Vienna, so for that part of your trip you might find train commuting to be a good option.

Outside the old town in Bratislava, which is quite pleasant, I am told that it is all grim concrete blocks of flats, and some of it might be a bit rough.

I don't know much about Bratislava, but Vienna is supposed to be really good, and deffo on my list of places to go. The Viennese cafes are supposed to be really good, if having a nice latte and eating a yummy cake is what you like. The nightlife of Vienna is reckoned to be good too.

I've been to Vienna a few times.
Great City, lots to see and oodles of nice café's.

I've driven to Bratislava from Vienna-you would do it in an hour.
The best time to do the drive is on a sunday because thats when all the shops in Vienna shut whereas Bratislava 40 miles down the road is open for business.

Thats right - if you want to buy stuff in Vienna,it must be the only city I've been to in Europe that closes down shopping wise on a sunday-so be aware of that.

    Night life is class :)

If you want a recommendation on somewhere to say I recommend a maisonette suite in the radisson palais.
They are beautifull, the living room is downstairs with the bedroom upstairs.
The price is similar to what you'd pay for a top end room (as opposed to a suite) in most European cities or less than that even so it's very good value given that you are getting a suite for the price of a room.
Very relaxing too with that home from home feel :)

Thank you for your post ...I can't wait to go, though I am hoping the fever with the Euro 2008 won't bother me. I am always nervous when I travel.
I want to make sure that everything will be perfect. Well I always want that :p.
And yes, I want to have my coffee in the morning at a coffee place and enjoy my escape from the office.
