Eircom netopia routers ? swappable?

A neighbour of ours had a problem with his eircom 2MB broadband
which I learned about late enough yesterday. We suspect his router
may have died. I have a spare netopia 2247NWG (same model as his).
Are they completely hot swappable ? I'm with eircom.net also.
I'm assuming there isn't anything personalised on those dsl wireless
routers apart from the firmware being locked to eircom and the
user/password being defaulted to the one which authenticates *any*
eircom.net home customer to their dsl ?

Should I be able to just pop in my spare router to his place just to see we
are getting all indicator lights green ?

(The only other thing it might be would be a faulty DSL microfilter...?)

Ya they are completely swoppable. same username and passwords for every install. Just pop it in and see if you have a DSL and internet light.

Routers are swappable....but what makes you think this is the problem?

Try without the filter and from the main phone point in the house...normally the one nearest the from the door. Try removing any other devices connected to the phone sockets about the house too.
