Auto electrician in Dublin area?

    hi all,
Do you have any recommendations for an auto electrician? My sounds are giving me some problems in that sometimes the audio kicks in (radio/CD/sat-nav voice) upon engine startup and then hit a bump in the road and its gone. So obviously a loose connection somewhere, but I'm afraid to leave it in to a BMW dealership as they'll charge mad money for labour and may not fix the issue. But if I knew of a good auto-electrician I'd get him out to look at it. I've rang some audio specialist companies like "Safe-Sounds" in Drumcondra and "ICE sounds" in Rathgar, and they won't touch it coz it is BMW equipment! I also bought (from eBay) the BMW 16:9 widescreen OBC monitor and MK4 dvd-rom SAT-NAV box months ago, but again, I'm struggling to get anyone to install it!! Its driving me nuts.. any advice here would be great!

I've used them quite a few times, they're quite reasonable. Very old-school, friendly & knowledgable.

I just used them (found their details on this thread) and was very impressed..problem spotted and rectified very quickly, and price very reasonable. If they did a standard service id have no problem going there as very trustworthy which for me is the gardest part choosing a mechanic

    Hi E38-beemer.

First thing i'd check is all the audio connections in the boot of the car which you can do yourself. Use four nails to remove the nav computer (wait a few minutes for the unit to power down before removing the cables) and gently pull the boot lining away and you'll expose the CD changer, tv tuner, amplifier, trafficmaster etc. Check all of those cables before taking it anywhere. Do you have the DSP amplifier per chance? Does your screen go off when you hit a bump?

I also went to hamiltons in dublin city center, very good service and good prices charged me 100 euro to fix my dodgy clifford alarm which was giving me loads of hassle. Would recommend to anyone seeking a auto electrician.
