    CHARITY FUNDRAISER

Una O Donnell and Orlagh Fogarty are hosting a charity night in association with SERVE and all are invited!! The fundraiser will be held in Kellys bar, Strandhill, Sligo on the 21st of June. It promises to be a fun filled night with musical entertainment and will also include raffles and food throughout the night.

SERVE is an Irish youth charity organisation committed to tackling world poverty . Emerging from partnerships between young Irish adults, Irish Redemptorists and marginalised communities in the developing world, SERVE works to empower vulnerable and excluded groups and communities to become agents of their own transformation.

Within South Africa and Mozambique SERVE also formed a partnership with a local NGO Young Africa. This group encourages empowerment of underprivileged young people between 15 and 25 years, does its lobbying, not through policy documents but by setting up demonstration empowerment projects that can be replicated. Holistic empowering of young people through 8 developed programmes, geared to equip young people with the skills and facilities to build up a life of dignity for themselves and their communities. Young Africa employs the participatory development methodology through franchising and involving entrepreneurs of the private sector to run the training programmes. Young Africa sets up the infrastructures that would enable the local community to take up the management of the project. This innovative style of running a development project has the potential of attaining self reliance in 5 years time.

This fundraiser will enjoy entertainment from three talented bands; Kudose , The Odd Socks and Mr.Tea and the Biscuits.

    Kudose:
Are a Mayo based band who have toured Ireland having success with a no.29 hit single. Their video and single ‘love my madness’ can be viewed and heard online. Mr Tea and the biscuits is a 4/5 piece band based in Sligo, Ireland. Led by the infamous Mr Tea and his ukulele, the band originated in Galway, but unforeseen college degrees led to the band temporarily exploding. Now based in Sligo, Mr Tea and the Biscuits have recorded a 4 track EP entitled "Live (in studio)" which is only available to buy at gigs, so now ya gotta go to one! The line-up incorporates a ukulele, harmonica, guitars, double bass, drums, triangles, eggs, keyboards “and whatever else we can afford”. For more info: www.mrteaandthebiscuits.com
