getting ko`d by your boss would be pretty embarassing. oscar is way too big for him anyway

just speculation after mayweathers "retirement" even a de la Hoya past his best would be way too much for Hatton.

I'd like to see cotto vs de la Hoya though september is too soon for him but maybe next year, and if cotto beats him maybe he will come out of retirement to fight cotto. He'll make enough money for mayweather then surely.

    hatton again running scared imo.
Was it something to do with his father not wanting to fight DLH?
Dlh would fight hatton anywhere and no money!
hatton imo will go down in 6 th round if they ever fight:rolleyes:

i thought hatton fights the same weight as dlh?
Mayweather was the same weight as dlh when he fought hatton?
    i found this on wiki.
After the retirement of Mayweather, Ricky Hatton was the new potential candidate to fight De La Hoya on September 20th. However, Hatton rejected the offer because he felt the scheduled date was too close to his last bout.
i feel that hatton is running imo.

hattons best is at 140. de la hoya recently fought forbes at 150. oscar hasnt fought at 147 in a long time. oscar is about 5"10/11, hatton is about 5"6. oscar is too big for him in height and physical strength

i dont think its a problem if they both met up at 147 welterweight, size doesn't matter as RH is 5'7" and oscar is 5'10".
this would be great fight, love to see it happen.

147 is not hattons best fighting weight. hatton has never looked great 147 . he wouldnt have the slightest chance. oscar would completely dominate hatton even if he is old and past his best. size does matter. oscar is bigger he would weigh alot more on fight night.he is alot stronger. which wouldnt fair too well for hatton trying to get inside.

De La Hoya has not fought at 147 for years, he has been around 154 mostly and held a version of the world title at 160.
I know what you are saying Alan Ford, they would both be 147 for fight. But remember when DLH fought Mayweather? Well mayweather looked tiny compared to DLH, then when Mayweather fought hatton it was the same only in mayweather's favour.
Fighters dehydrate themselves to get in the ring and realistcally even if DLH weighs in at 147 before the fight, he will be 160 by the time he is in the ring.

    why does size matter?
its their strength and skill of it.
look at the heavyweights there small fellas knocking out guys alot bigger than themselves.
mike tyson was 5'11" and beating guys of 6'5"!

they fight at 147, Hatton will definitely win; because Oscar will be so damn weak trying to make 147, he will be of no threat. C'mon guys, this bout can' happen below 150lbs. HATTON IS WELL OUT OF HIS LEAGUE HERE

    hi walsh.
i dont want to argue as these are opinions.
Why dont we make a vote who would win between these guys if the fight did happen.
then i can rest my case?

Heavyweight is a different story, they come in at their full weight, full strength and thus punch resistance/power. Obviously if you have to bulk up to be a heavyweight you are at a disadvantage.

However let's put it this way: Would De La Hoya have a chance against Calzaghe at 168 (and don't take this as an opportunity to have a dig at joe!!)
I think not, Calzaghe is too big, he is exactly a stone heavier at their fighting weight than DLH, same as DLH is a stone heavier than Hatton.

By your logic, hatton could fight calzaghe too, or Klitschko/whoever. Where does it stop?

If size doesn't matter then why have weight divisions ?

Get Pacman to fight Klitchko. Great entertainment if you're a complete sadist !

Tyson at his peak was 15 1/2 stone of rock hard muscle. Most of the guys he fought were around the 16 stone mark. As a percentage of bodyweight half a stone to a 10 stone man is a hell of a bigger difference than to a 15 1/2 stone man.

Why do you think winning world titles at different weights is such a hard thing to do and only a handful of boxers have ever done it ?

Now he says he would like to fight DLH next summer if he's still around.

All things equal, Hatton still gets whupped; he is not even in an old Oscar's league
