    Heyhey
    I Have a vw with camper interior and i was looking to get the Z bed and front seats re-covered in plaid material. I was wondering if any one has got this done from anyone they would recommend, or if anyone has advice on who to stay away from???

    A guy approached me last Sunday at Mosney and showed me his portfolio for various cars he has retrimmed. Mercs, BMW's, Civics, Campers, Splitty's all of them in whatever you wanted.

    I'm going to get him to do my Merc in the correct original trim. His card is in the car, based near Ashbourne, I'll post up his details later !

    Thats that guy Henry;

    He's very good- if you tell him exactly how you want your seats trimmed, he'll do it. But if you dont he'll re-trim it his way and may not be to your liking.

    give it a go yourself? I borrowed my mum's sewing machine, carefully unpicked all the original upholstery off a Golf GTI seat and used it to make new upholstery for the seat to match the original '74 Westfalia plaid interior in my van. still have to find a good second seat to recover for the passenger side :(

    It's time consuming but it ain't rocket science... :)

    Thats a great job you did on those seats trevor. I was thinking of putting vynl on some old capri seats what sort of tools experience do you need?

    I had no prior experience whatsoever, I borrowed my mum's sewing machine for a couple of weeks and did them bit-by-bit in the evenings after work. You'll need a stitch ripper and a few spare needles for the machine, you will break them. Make sure you get good stong thread too, check out your local "old woman's" sewing shop :D

    Best thing to do is to mark up the backs of each of the panels on the original seats, rip all the stitching, iron all the panels flat and then trace around them on the back of the new vinyl. Staple the panels together instead of pins and sew them. Go around afterwards and pick all the staples out ;)

    Just finished the drivers seat of my re-upholstery job on the MGB in Navy Hide with white piping, thanks to the help of the people in Capel Street Upholstery Supplies.

    I need to tighten up the bases, but other than that I am happy with my DIY attempt and saved a packet.

    Fair play...very nice.

    Its suprising what you can do without any experience......you just need confidence..some bottles of wine and a helmet..;)

    Hi,
    probably a bit late with this one, i had my own suite recovered last June by a place in Artane. Not sure if camper vans interior would be done by the company though.

    Anybody here ever changed a car from cloth to leather? Any advice on how to do it on the cheap?
