so im 26 and the gut has finally started to kick in. ive made a point of cutting down on sweets and avoiding fried meals. im quite a small guy, and the belly isnt serious yet. my question is this:

what exercises are best to help remove the belly? until recently i went to the gym twice a week and although it didnt give me a washboard, it did balance out the crap food i was eating so i stayed pretty much normal weight. now its building up, i wana catch the belly before it becomes unmanagable.

also, how often should i be going to the gym? i know some folks go every day but thats not possible for me due to work, and also id get sick of it and give it up after 2 weeks. just a bit of advice please.

Im going to echo what everyone else will say, you can't spot reduce fat, there is no excercise that is "best" for stomach fat. The best excercise is the one that you do.
Try to drink as much water as possible 3-4 litres per day, eat clean, get as much excercise as you can, ideally 3 times or more a week for an hour if possible
    good luck

cool. exactly what i needed to hear. another question, what is classed as exercise? i mean is walking 20 mins too and from work exercise or is it essential to build up a sweat for an hour 3-4 hours per week minium?

you should be looking to have your heart rate in a certain zone for a sustained period of time. What that zone is, im not sure, Im sure someone else here will know. In or around 80+% of its capacity for at least 15 minutes

Everything is classed as excercise as long as it gets you moving and the heart beating faster than normal.

running or swimming is the best exercise for weight loss.

running is probably your best option as it can be done anywhere.
Start off doing 20mins for 3 /4 times a week gradually increase this over the next 3/4 weeks to an hour.
After 1 to 2 month you should be running 5/6 times a week for at least 1 hour at a time.
Another major element is to stop eating fatty food completely... just stop it :D
+ cut back your carbohydrates. you need to expend more calories than your in taking

Sounds easy but if your strict it works
The weight will start moving rapidly, yes the belly too. This is what i done and its going great.

Yes, but not the best for fat-loss.

    Easier said than done!

I gave it up for 3 weeks recently, had been in the gym regularly during them 3 weeks every 2nd day or so. Went for a few beers last weekend and it felt like I'd been hit with a hammer on the head. After 2 or 3 pints I could barely speak

Does training do that to you?

    Plenty, 2-3 litres a day.

It must be just the fact I hadn't drank it 3 weeks.
