Ziggy,

I've just replaced my e65 screen and had the same problem with the slider myself. I discovered that when you remove the original screen there is a thin metal frame stuck to the back of it. at the bottom there is a small rectangular metal block that sticks through a hole in the backing. It is this block that the phone detects and activates the slider funtion. I found that i had bent the frame out of shape but that when I put it back the pressure from the front cover of the phone was enough to hold it in place and the slider function works again. Hope this helps
