More time or more money?

I keep reading how Irish people are becoming 'time poor' and with a circa 2 hour daily commute I can identify strongly with it myself. Looking at the number of us taking year's out or career breaks to go travel the world I'm wondering if part of the motivation to go see the sights of the world is the chance to be free of the stress of work and to just have a large chunk of time to oneself?

As a student I always wanted more money, as someone 5 years into a decent career and as an expectant father (who therefore doesn't really have the option) I'm thinking that now, I'd much rather have more free time...

    Which would you choose?

The time. No contest in my opinion. As long as I've enough money to get by and go on the odd holiday etc. You can't put a price on time. You'll be dead long enough etc.

Free time ftw!!!! Commute is 40-50 return on a bicycle into the City Centre which could be about 2-2.5 hours each day. I probably spend extra time when I get into work showering etc but sitting on public transport is god damn depressing. I've also moved into a job where it's absically 9-5:30 with a bit of over time here and there whereas I was working 60+ hours about a year ago. Much happier with my free time, even if I do **** all with it.

Congrats on the bambino too, obviously been busy since I last seen you. ;)

More time. I'd like to see the working week reduced to 30 hours or less with the same money.

Defo more time. But I guess it depends in your situation once you are financially stable then it should be free time all the way.

Its also funny how already the majority of posters are saying the work full time yet are on boards at 4.45 in the day.

    At the moment, more money.

In the future, I'd like to work the least hours possible.

Fair play man, I'd say that's tough going. When you have money you want more time when you have time you want more money.
