Tipping in Irish hotels

    Hi

Just wondering what peoples opinions are on this... I'm going to stay in a hotel next week where I know I will be escorted to my room by hotel staff - do we tip in hotels in Ireland for this?? Also, if room service is brought (and there's needless to say an extra charge on it already) do we add more to the cost by tipping??

I konw the whole tipping thing in the States is different because their minimum wage for these type of jobs is different on the account of tips. We don't have that here, so are we expected to tip hotel staff who show us our room and bring up our food???

Don't mean to sound tight - I don't mind tipping if it's the done thing!!! I just don't want to throw money away if it's not necessary!

Tipping in Ireland is a personal thing. If you feel that the service is worth something extra then tip them.

I usually leave something in my room for the maids when I check out.
