The draw will be made on June 29th and it's usually televised.

    going to be some great games in the qualifiers this year with the teams in it;
donegal, derry, tyrone, armagh/down,monaghan, cavan away(might be tricky), meath, kildare away, laois, w,meath/dublin, louth(1st half showing against dubs).
Usually like donegal to get few handy ones under their belt and then take on the big guns, no easy games this year:(

when are 1st games fixed for?

The qualifier draws will be made this Sunday on TV3.

Laois, Kildare, Cavan, Louth or Offaly would do nicely for Limerick. Even Donegal or Monaghan, provided we got them at home, would be a decent draw for us. Really looking forward to it.

We were one of only two teams to take points off you lot on your way to victory in the league final last year. And you were lucky to come away with a draw that day. We'd take you at the Gaelic Grounds this time round ;)

but when is the 1st round of qualifiers due to take place, Donegal only started training again tonight:confused:

No mention of any dates on the GAA's website.

Surely every other team in the draw are hoping to get Tipperary, no??

I think a lot of fans have forgotten that Tipperary are not eligible for Tommy Murphy Cup this year. They'd want Offaly,Limerick and possibly Kildare who I think Tipperary may beat.

Have just came across the dates and 1st round of qualifiers are down for 19th July, 2nd round 26th July.. 3 weeks seems a long time to 1st round when the draw is on this sunday..

I predict a rout in that particular match and the Tipp/Westmeath match.

Monaghan against Derry seems to be the tie of the round. Limerick v Meath and Kildare v Cavan will also be interesting.

Agree, Meath never seem to get home advantage in the qualifiers, an away game to Limerick will be tough for us

if kildare are as bad as they were in there first game then cavan could hammer them

You know I wouldn't be surprised if all the away teams in the qualifiers came away victorious

Meath will beat Limerick, the game will be most likely played in an empty Gaelic Grounds. A shame really IMO.

Happy with home game against the Rossies:), would be very disappointed and surprised if their is an away victory here

It almost looks like the draw was seeded, with the "weaker" teams getting home advantage. Only the Monaghan and Donnegal games go against that line.

Monaghan v Derry is the tie of the round alright. With all the talk about Derry being All-Ireland contenders they could now be gone after the first round of the qualifiers. It's a nasty draw for them, and not the draw Monaghan would have wanted either.

Limerick v Meath could be interesting but Meath should win it, they'll be happy enough to have avoided the likes of Derry and Donegal. Kildare v Cavan is a game between two mediocre teams, neither of whom will go much further. Longford are hard to beat at home and could put an end to Laois's Summer.

Most of the away teams will be favourites, but there's no chance of Roscommon winning up in Ballybofey. Westmeath have been handed a decent draw aswell, as have Tyrone.

Dublin got Cork away, which is a shame. I would have fancied our chances against either them or Limerick in Parnell Park. Hopefully they can get the win though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,193 ✭✭✭pd101

There are a few good ties in there. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of upsets in there as well.

For those of us deprived of a second chance, here's the Tommy Murphy draw:

    Preliminary Round
    Kilkenny v London
Tie to be played 12 July

    Quarter-finals
    Kilkenny/London v Sligo
    Antrim v Carlow
    Clare v Leitrim
    Wicklow v Waterford
Ties to be played 19/20 July

Was it just me or did anyone find it funny the way that Nicky Brennan didn't mix the balss around before picking them. Seemed a little funny to me.

    My predictions
    Meath
    Laois

Well like anyone who gets Tyrone is just fucked anyway

Down would not agree with that Kmart. As to the draw, it was a bit disappointing, with only really one tie that stands out, namely Monaghan v Derry. Given the teams that were in there, we could have expected a few more interesting ties. I think just about everyone would go along with most of the predicted wins above. There have been a few surprises this year, but I would not expect many from those combinations.

I suppose if there is to be any shocks, one would have to look at the Limerick-Meath game in the Gaelic Grounds and Louth-Tyrone in Drogheda but that wouldn't be really a shock, more of a surprise really. The more interesting games would be Derry-Monaghan,Meath-Limerick and Longford-Laois.

I'd say Donegal and Tyrone would be the happier of the teams in the qualifiers.Roscommon are not a great side but are a small test for Donegal and a tie like this and a win would give them a bit more confidence going into the next round.I don't think they'd like to play Derry again this early or even Monaghan.Tyrone need a win big time.I think Louth will flourish playing in a smaller venue and will contest the game with Tyrone but Tyrone will be very confident of beating Louth and they should but Louth are a good qualifier team.

A very handy draw for Westmeath but I don't think Westmeath will be entirely happy with that draw. After playing Dublin, they would have been in a great position to take on the likes of Donegal,Tyrone and Monaghan and a win against any of those would boost morale seriously.Instead they go to Tipperary and play a very low standard team after playing one of the best and this won't prepare Westmeath at all.

Kildare v Cavan in Newbridge is interesting.I think Cavan will take this game.Kildare are shockingly poor and their loss to Wicklow suggests that the county is in crisis at senior level. If John Doyle doesn't have his shooting boots on and Seanie Johnston has,Cavan should win comfortably.

I think Longford may up-end Laois in Pearse Park.Apart from Parkinson, the Laois team aren't performing very well and their midfield is just too inexperienced.Munnelly,Lalor and McCormack are not playing great and I have the feeling that Peter O Leary will be called upon.Meanwhile Paul and David Barden will be crucial for Longford.

I fancy Tipp to give Westmeath a serious run, should have beaten Limerick who themselves had Cork beaten and then threw it away. Got promotion also and the standard of Leinster football currently is very low.

I think Meath are just raring to get out again and forget about those last 20mins against Wexford. Limerick should be a decent enough challenge but if they lose then Coyler really will have to go back to the drawing board.

I really hope Longford give Laois a good beating, they're definitely there for the taking after looking very mediocre against Wicklow and Wexford.

Dont go counting your chickens just yet :D But yeah, unfortunately I think Ros will be beaten well by Donegal. Pity we didnt get an easier draw, but at the same time we would probably struggle against most the sides so there was no real easy draw for us.

I predict a rout in that particular match and the Tipp/Westmeath match.

Theres no way that westmaeath will ''rout'' Tipp with home advantage tipp will fancy their chances in this game

Yeah i noticed that also, surely he should have given the balls a bit of a swirl.

I wish he had done and then maybe my county Louth would not have got Tyrone:)
As for the home tie, i dont think we will be allowed play it at home due to health and fire safety requirements not being met on the 2 possible grounds in Louth.
I reckon it will be moved to Navan , like 2 years ago.

Edit... now confirmed for Drogheda on the 19th July ,7pm throw in

The fact that the game is now in Drogheda will make it more difficult for Tyrone.Louth love playing in smaller venues and I don't think there will be a rout.In fact,Tyrone look very frail and vulnerable. It could be a good opportunity for Louth to take a massive scalp.

Little or no chance of Dublin winning down in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. For all the talk of Dublin making progress they're still a bit off the top level, and could really have done with beating Wexford. Now a promising Summer could be over alot earlier than anticipated.
